Colin Kaepernick Says He Still Trains Six Days a Week for NFL Comeback

With his upcoming docuseries Colin In Black and White set to premiere on October 29th through online streaming service Netflix, Colin Kaepernick is now revealing that he remains hopeful for his NFL comeback.

During a recent interview with Ebony, Colin Kaepernick revealed he stills trains so that he can resume his NFL career. “I am still up at 5 a.m. training five, six days a week making sure I’m prepared to take a team to a Super Bowl again,” Kaepernick declared.

Colin Kaepernick also admitted that his dream to return to the NFL is not coming he will ever let go of, regardless of the actions of 32 teams and their partners to deny him employment. “The same way I was persistent in high school is the same way I’m gonna be persistent here.”

Colin Kaepernick then addressed the NFL teams and partners who are denying him.

“And you’re gonna have to continue to deny me and do so in a public way. And you’re gonna exposure yourself by that. But it won’t be because I’m not ready or not prepared.”

As previously reported, Colin Kaepernick co-created the series with Ava DuVernay, who is known for her work in Middle of Nowhere13, and Selma. The six-part docuseries explores the experiences that led Kaepernick to become an activist. The series’ description states it shows the “coming of age” story of a kid who just wanted to play football, but was destined for much more.

Starring in Colin in Black and White is Jaden Michael as Young Colin. Nick Offerman and Mary-Louise Parker are playing the role of Kaepernick’s parents. Kaepernick will be the narrator.

Colin Kaepernick Reveals More Details About the Upcoming Docuseries

Also during his interview with Ebony, Colin Kaepernick shared details about the upcoming docuseries. “There are differences that the show will speak to differently,” the former NFL player explained.

“When you look at Black and Brown folks, especially Black and Brown youth, the message is staying true to yourself. Believing yourself; having confidence in your identity; and not letting anybody take that from you.”

Colin Kaepernick then stated he also thinks that as he looks at broader society, part of what the show speaks to is how “whiteness” shows up and how it’s engaged with. “Also the pressures, the micro-aggressions, the racism, and what that shows up as.”

While explaining what he hopes viewers will understand, Colin Kaepernick said, “I hope it’s an opportunity for white people to be able to look at their actions. How they show up in society and how they are engaging with Black and Brown folks. And look at their own private perspective.”
