Following 17 seasons of Deadliest Catch, Wild Bill and Josh Harris are showing off their latest catch.

The two caught a Black Bass in Dutch Harbor in Unalaska, Alaska. The sight is beautiful, although it looks cold. Dutch Harbor, Alaska, is a hot spot for Alaskan king crab, snow crab, and apparently, black bass. The base of operations is actually in the Aleutian Islands port Dutch Harbor, Alaska – not too far off where an earthquake recently hit.

Before Deadliest Catch aired on the Discovery Channel, it was unbeknownst to many the dangers that fishermen can experience. Bill Wichrowski documents his travels on Instagram. A few posts before show beautiful Alaskan landscape with the captain, “This is what Alaska is like every day,” and “Baby, it’s cold outside.” In fact, most of the fisherman takes to social media to share their days even when they’re not filming.

Josh Harris’s Transition to the Time Bandi

Josh Harris lost his father, Phil Harris, in 2010 to a massive stroke. Harris is arguably was one of the best-respected and most liked fishermen that appeared on the show. During an episode, Harris was removed from his Cornelia Marie after suffering a stroke a day after learning about his son Jake’s addiction. Minutes after, Harris was found, and sons Josh and Jake take over the boat. Phil was lifted up into an ambulance and unfortunately passed away.

The latest coronavirus pandemic impacted the crab scene on Deadliest Catch in Season 17. Many crews stayed onshore, while those who went out were short-staffed. Before taking over the Cornelia Marie, Harris worked as a deckhand with Captain Johnathan Hillstrand on the Time Bandit. The Time Bandit housed him for a few years as he earned his captain’s license. Harris retired the Time Bandit until Season 17.

Johnathan Hillstrand was set to work alongside his brother, Andy Hillstrand, until Andy contracted COVID-19 and could no longer able to go. The season premiere saw Hillstrand talk to Josh Harris about “an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.” He told Josh to think about coming aboard to become his new co-captain. It was urgent. Hillstrand tells the fisherman, “I need somebody over there with me. I thought I was going to have Andy, and I just want to make sure that there’s nothing that Phil didn’t teach you. I want to teach you everything I know. Just think about it. And I could give you some quota if that sweetens the pot.”

He takes the opportunity on the Time Bandit and for sure will make his late father proud.
