Dennis Quaid Buys Up Ronald Reagan Memorabilia for Shocking Price Ahead of Starring in ‘Reagan’ Biopic

Dennis Quaid is channeling former President Ronald Reagan. Recently, the veteran actor opened up about the lengths he went as he prepares for the upcoming biopic called Reagan. The film will star Quaid as the former president, and according to Quaid, so far, it’s been “maybe the most challenging role … in my career.”

“For one thing, he was my favorite president,” said the Golden Globe nominee during an interview with the Daily Blast Live. “I mean, he’s an icon. I’m really looking forward to it.”

During his appearance, Quaid also spoke on a recent appearance on the hit reality show “Pawn Stars.” In the show, viewers saw him authenticate his own signature on a poster for the upcoming movie.

On “Pawn Stars,” the Parent Trap actor revealed some items that once belonged to Reagan, including a flying cap and a pendant with a personalized note to actress Adele Jergens, whom the 40th president dated for a time. The pendant also featured St. Genesius, the patron saint of actors.

At the end of the episode, it’s revealed that Dennis Quaid walked away with the pendant and the note for $2,750. “I’m a big fan of [‘Pawn Stars’] going way back, actually,” Quaid said. “Being given a memento of Reagan’s life, that was a lot of fun to do.”

Details for Upcoming Reagan Biopic

According to Vulture, plans for a biopic about the former president initially began in 2010. For eight years, the film would stay in development before entering pre-production in 2018.

With funding and a lead actor signed, the film’s production officially began in 2020, with filming starting in Oklahoma. As with many movies and television series, COVID-19 put a damper on the production schedule. According to Deadline, production suspended filming after several crew members tested positive for the virus. The hiatus lasted two weeks, and work started back in early November 2020.

Even though production initially wanted a 2019 release, the delays pushed the date back. When the crew finally got back to work, they set a new goal for a 2021 release. Now, the pandemic has forced another setback to the film’s release. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Sean McNamara said the film’s release is likely to happen in 2022.

As for choosing Dennia Quaid to take on the role, McNamara and producer Mark Joseph said he was their first choice. “Dennis was always our first choice. He’s one of the great actors of our time.”
