The Mighty Ducks will soon be skating back into our hearts. According to a new trailer released by Disney, the new Disney+ series “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” will be available for streaming beginning March 26.

The new show is a revival of the wildly popular movie franchise from the 1990s. The original film, “The Mighty Ducks,” was released in 1992. The movie starred Emilio Estevez as a lawyer who is forced to coach a previously very unsuccessful youth hockey team. As with most movies in the genre, he learns a lot about himself while being a positive influence on the lives of his players. And, together they find success.

You can watch the trailer for the 1992 film below. That film was followed by sequels in 1994 and 1996. You can stream all of them on Disney+.

New ‘Mighty Ducks’ Series Premieres March 26

According to an article on PopCulture.com, Estevez will once again play Gordon Bombay in the new series. The teaser makes it seem that he will once again team up with – and help – a group of underdogs.

Furthermore, the new series finds the Mighty Ducks hockey team as a very, very successful program. In fact, the squad, which once took in misfits and underdogs, now cares more about winning than changing the lives of its players.

According to the article, the new series will focus on the character of the 12-year-old Evan. He was cut from the team. However, that has not prevented him from wanting to play hockey. Playing his mother, Alex, is popular actress Lauren Graham. Unsurprisingly, Alex decides to help her son create a new hockey team.

Who could help her? Gordon Bombay, of course.

Evan is played by Brady Noon. Also part of the cast are Julee Cera, Taegen Burns, Swayam Bhatia, Bella Higginbotham, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Maxwell Simkins, and De’Jon Watts, according to the article.

Steven Brill, who co-wrote the original “Mighty Ducks” movies, created the new show alongside “The King of Queens” leaders Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa. Estevez is also an executive producer on the show.

Disney Announces New ‘Greek Freak’ Biopic for Giannis Antetokounmpo

The new “Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” series isn’t the only sports-themed release coming to Disney+ in the future. Also coming soon to the streaming service is a show about the “Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo.

During December, the streaming service announced that it plans to release a film about Antetokounmpo, an NBA most valuable player, in the near future. The film will focus on the superstar’s early days and his NBA career.

The movie will focus on Giannis’ early life, move into his trek to the NBA, and finally his ascension to becoming a bonafide superstar.

“Heading into production next year: ‘Greek Freak’ is the remarkable story of NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family as they lifted themselves out of poverty as undocumented immigrants living in Greece, with Giannis ultimately finding himself on the world stage,” a Disney official previously ssaid.
