by John Jamison

DMX is going out in style. A monster truck, supposedly carrying the late rapper’s casket, was spotted on the streets of Brooklyn as it headed toward the Barclays Center for a memorial service.

The video shows a huge procession of bikers making way for the massive monster truck, complete with “LONG LIVE DMX” decals on the side. It’s an impressive display for the iconic rapper.

“Wow it‘s sad but the crowd is awesome and give me joy. I will look from Switzerland. The love is real and I love to see the whole community unite together I hope y‘all being peaceful to each other. It‘s all about love for DMX. Big thanks to the Ruff Riders too,” one Twitter user replied to the video.

“If my funeral convoy has 1/1000th the coolness of arriving in a monster truck, I will have died a happy man,” replied another.

The images are striking. Thousands of pedestrians and bikers fill the streets as a parade heads towards the arena in Brooklyn. The celebration of life is set to get underway at 4 PM Eastern. It will reportedly not be open to the public, however. Though there will be plenty of people looking on, trying to catch a glimpse.

The Death of Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons

The beloved rapper owned such hits as “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” and “Ruff Ryders Anthem.” And his music was highly influential in street biking communities. This helps to explain the sheer number of exotic bikes and vehicles that rallied to his support.

On April 2, DMX was taken to the hospital. He had suffered an episode of cardiac arrest. And after a few days on life support, Earl Simmons passed away on April 9. The rapper was 50 years old.

“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end,” his family said in a statement.

He struggled with substance abuse throughout his career. And even though he had his issues, fans have shown the legendary rapper incredible amounts of support in the wake of his death.
