Lisa Marie Presley gained control of Elvis Presley’s massive trust, including the famous mansion, on her 25th birthday. Her father’s Graceland Estate transformed into a public museum with Lisa Presley head of management.

Graceland opened for tours on June 7, 1982, the home’s website reports, aided by Priscilla and other executors in order to continue cash flow. Since its 1982 opening, Graceland has hosted more than  20 million visitors the site says.

The singer’s daughter still owns the Graceland Mansion itself, in its entirety. The site says, “Lisa Marie Presley retains 100% sole personal ownership of Graceland Mansion itself and its over 13-acre original grounds and her father’s personal effects – meaning costumes, wardrobe, awards, furniture, cars, etc.”

Presley insists her father’s home is basically a time machine, says USA Today. It has not changed at all since 1977. “It’s like a time warp and the energy is still very much there. You can feel it,” she tells them in the 2013 interview.

Visitors can take a step into history and see the place where Elvis lived. Images of the singer posing in front of the home are nearly identical to those taken today.

The Graceland Estate hit headlines recently, as it was defaced by protestors Tuesday. The estate’s exterior wall, where fans typically write their names or tributes to the singer, now shows phrases of protest in graffiti. Protestors wrote “Black Lives Matter” and “Abolish Ice,” amongst other phrases in large letters.
