The “Duck Dynasty” family has been busy with their new series “At Home With The Robertsons.” The Robertsons had Hannah Brown on the most recent episode of the show. And the conversation they had with the former Bachelorette and pageant star inspired the men to flip the script on objectifying women.
How? By objectifying themselves, of course.
Willie Robertson and Christian Huff took turns strutting their stuff down the runway for their incredibly amused significant others.
Willie goes first. He turns the corner sporting a fake muscle suit instead of truly going shirtless.
“Hey guys, are you ready for the beach? ‘Cause I’m ready,” he says. Sadie calls him out immediately saying, “It’s not fair.” And she’s right, it’s the perfect representation of a double standard.
Korie plays along, however, telling Willie to “turn around, do a spin. Let us see.”
And the “Duck Dynasty” man is starting to get it. “This whole spin thing is super objectifying,” Willie says. “I don’t get it. I mean why do you need to see the back, you know? The front should be good enough.”
Next up is Christian Huff. And If the women were disappointed in Willie’s lack of commitment to the performance, Christian makes up for it. Sadie’s husband is the human embodiment of Willie’s muscle suit. He walks out bashfully to some high praise from the Robertson women.
“I don’t think that’s a body suit,” Korie says.
While hilarious, the bathing suit competition was a valuable experiment. The “Duck Dynasty” men put themselves in women’s shoes and probably got some good perspective out of it.
‘Duck Dynasty’ Family Is Keeping An Open Mind
The whole point of “At Home With The Robertsons” is to open the dialogue surrounding things that aren’t always easy to talk about. The Robertsons are clearly embracing this, and the conversation they had with Hannah Brown about body standards is a perfect example.
“We don’t always have to agree, but we can love one another and be kind and respectful and have fun together and be friends even when we’re talking about hard things,” Korie said of the show.
“I think people, some people will be surprised maybe on how we feel about things, and some people will be surprised at the other side of how we get along,” Willie said.
You can catch the next episode of “At Home With The Robertsons” Thursday at 12 p.m. EST on Facebook Watch.
