Dwayne Johnson Continues Tradition of Singing Happy Birthday to Woman Who is Now 102: VIDEO

When a Philadelphia woman celebrated turning a century-old in 2019, she got a special present. Dwayne Johnson sent her a video message. And he’s remembered the spunky grandma on her big day every year since.

Marie Grover, aka Grandma Grover, has been crushing on Dwayne Johnson for a long time. According to Marie’s Granddaughter’s best friend, Jamie Klingler, the love started way back in the 90s.

“When we were 15 [years old] and trick-or-treating in Fox Chase, she would have on a ‘Rock’ sweatshirt,” Klingler told City Life. “She’s loved him since 1994. She’d be like, ‘He’s so handsome,’ and we’d watch a movie and it wouldn’t be very good, and she’d be like, ‘It’d be much better if they put ‘The Rock’ in it.’”

When Marie’s 100th birthday was approaching, Klinger thought she’d try to work some magic and get The Rock to send Marie a birthday wish. So she opened her computer and emailed Johnson’s publicist, which ended up being a dead end.

But Klinger didn’t lose hope. And after a while, she dug up a connection. A friend of a friend claimed to know Dwayne Johnson, and they said they’d get in touch with him. And it worked! Johnson reached out to Klinger on Twitter and agreed to surprise Grandma Grover with a video message.

Dwayne Johnson Wishes Grandma Grover a Happy Birthday Every Year

On Marie’s 101st birthday, Dwayne didn’t forget his new friend. He sent the Philly native a couple of bottles of Teremana Tequila and a handwritten birthday card.

“HAPPY BEAUTIFUL 101 BIRTHDAY to Grandma Grover!” the Fast and Furious star wrote on Instagram. “Remember to SIP the Mana, grandma and it’s not time to do shots,” he added.

And this year, he continued the tradition. Johnson called Marie and had a face-to-face chat with the newly 102-year-old. And he posted the adorable video of their talk online.

“When she turned 100, I started singing Happy Birthday to Grandma Grover. Today she’s 102 years old. And this has become one of my favorite things to do,” he captioned. “And she sang back to me!! I wish I still had my grandma, but I do have her! Enjoy your birthday! Love, your Rock
