Dwayne Johnson Reveals What Gets Him ‘Out of Bed’ and It’s Not Making Money

by Jonathan Howard

With all that Dwayne Johnson has going on in his life, motivation is a big part of what gets The Rock out of bed in the morning. However, for those that think the wrestler-actor-tequila-superstar does all of that just for a paycheck, think again.

Oh, by the way, you can add rapper to his lengthy resume. However, when Johnson takes on a new project, he isn’t thinking about adding a new line to his work experience. He is thinking about how to do whatever it is in the best way possible, and doing it because he is excited about the vision and the work being put into the project.

“The things that get my attention these days and get me out of bed,” The Rock said to Variety. “have to be the things that I absolutely love and am absolutely passionate about. These days, the money is not the most important thing. The fame, no. That’s not the important thing. Honestly, it just comes down to passion, having fun – and are people going to enjoy it? That’s it. That’s the bottom line.”

With his on-screen ventures in wrestling, television, and film, Dwayne Johnson has done it all. He also has made enough money to last several lifetimes, so that’s not a big motivation. He is one of the first WWE Superstars to make the transition to Hollywood and build arguably a bigger career doing that than wrestling. Now, he is one of the most recognizable faces in the world.

His most recent venture in the music industry is a long time coming. Johnson and Tech N9ne have worked with one another in the past on the show Ballers on HBO. Now, the two have a song together that is sure to go on some workout playlists.

Dwayne Johnson Joins Tech N9ne and Others for Song

Tech N9ne got a cast of friends together for the new song Face Off. The new album from the rapper, ASIN9NE features a lot of fast-paced, intense songs. This is another classic sound from the midwest artist. Adding The Rock is just a cherry on top.

Along with Joey Cool and King Iso, the song is one for the gym, that’s for sure. While Dwayne Johnson isn’t as fast with his lyrics as the professional rappers in the song, he brings the intensity and the power. There’s a big reason why this is the first rap song the wrestler has done.

“A lot of my friends who are hip hop artists – like big names – I’ve been asked a few times. But it just has to feel right. When Tech texted me, I knew I would make this work. We’re aligned, just in terms of our work ethic and desire.”

That work ethic and desire show with every new success that Dwayne Johnson has, including his verse on the new song.
