Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang Van Halen, is celebrating his 30th birthday today.

From being a bassist in Van Halen to starting his own band, Mammoth WVH, Wolf has grown a lot in the music industry.

As a child he learned how to play the drums, guitar, bass, the keyboard, and now does vocals as well. He is in a relationship with Andraia Allsop, who has a birthday that is just one day apart from his.

He posted a sweet photo of them together on his Twitter yesterday. It said, “Happy Happy Birthday to my beautiful lady. You’re my everything and I don’t know what I’d do without you! Love you, babe!”

According to her Twitter bio, she is a graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. She currently works as a software engineer. It seems like the two have been together since about 2015. They mostly keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

She once appeared on Wolf’s mother’s cooking show on The Food Network called “Valerie’s Home Cooking.”

Wolf and his mother are exceptionally close, especially following the death of Eddie Van Halen in 2020. “The older he gets, the more I know how to stay out of his business. I try not to dig too much and trust that he’s got a good head on his shoulders — I’m lucky that he does. And so I’ve learned now to call him or just say hi… or just to say nothing, just to hear his voice. And of course, we FaceTime now more than ever, which I absolutely love,” Bertinelli said, according to Good Housekeeping.

Wolf Van Halen and the Grammys

Besides wishing his girlfriend a happy birthday, Wolf has also been using it to talk about the Grammys this year.

During the show, there was an “In Memoriam” section devoted to artists who had passed away in the last year. Eddie Van Halen was included in this video. In fact, the Grammys had asked Wolf to play “Eruption” for the video montage but he turned them down. He claimed, “I don’t think anyone could have lived up to what my father did for music but himself.”

Wolf also expressed his frustration that his father’s name wasn’t one of the artists mentioned at the beginning of the show. His name only came on a screen for a matter of seconds during the award show amidst four full performances for other artists.

Commenters on his post also expressed disappointment for the Grammys not giving Eddie Van Halen a long enough tribute. Van Halen had a massive impact on rock music and Eddie Van Halen is considered one of the greatest guitar players of all-time.

Other artists who passed away this year were Little Richard, Kenny Rogers, John Prine, Charley Pride, Bill Withers, Charlie Daniels, Pop Smoke, David Roback, and Wallace Roney. Sadly, these are just some of many that passed this year. The list was especially long and terribly grim this year due to the pandemic.

Some were also upset that Naya Rivera, popular on the show “Glee,” had not been mentioned at all.
