‘Ellen DeGeneres’ Former Staffers Unleash on Her After Announcement of Show Coming to an End

Ellen DeGeneres’ decision to end her long-running talk show has brought her past controversies back into the spotlight. And former staff members aren’t holding back on their criticism.

In an interview with Fox News, three former employees share their thoughts on the talk show’s demise. Though they worked with DeGeneres at different points in her career, they were united in their criticism of the talk show host and actor.

One anonymous staff member worked as a security guard for DeGeneres when she starred in the “Ellen” sitcom in the 1990s. He described her as both “not a very nice, cordial person” and “unpleasant” in their encounters.

“This has been a long time coming,” the former staffer told Fox News. “When the ‘Ellen’ sitcom ended, a lot of people on set were relieved. It caught me off guard when the talk show started. I was like, ‘Isn’t anybody aware what’s going on that the staff at the ‘Ellen’ show had seen?’ I thought, ‘Why is this continuing?'”

Other Staff Members Comment on Ellen DeGeneres

Likewise, Tom Majercak was a bodyguard for DeGeneres for the 2014 Oscars. He described her as “cold” and said she was the only celebrity to never greet him. He said he wasn’t shocked when allegations came out about her toxic behavior.

“It’s about time,” Majercak said of the show’s end. “With the cancel culture out there, people are getting canceled for the silliest of things, but this person can manipulate people and treat people the way they want, day in and day out, because of their title or status.”

Majercak believed it was time for the popular talk show to come to an end given the allegations and controversy. He also doesn’t believe that DeGeneres set a good role model for her viewers.

“People put a lot of thought into watching the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ Some people set their lives up around what she talks about. What she recommends, and how she lives her life,” he said. “Deep down, I hope that some people finally realize there was some not-so-honest persona taking place in front of our eyes. Am I glad the show’s ending? No. Am I surprised it happened? No. Did it need to happen? Yes.”

Ellen Responds to Controversy

Meanwhile, a third anonymous former staffer also compared working with DeGeneres as a guest on “The Bernie Mac Show” to becoming her employee on the talk show. The staff member said employees weren’t allowed to communicate directly with DeGeneres.

The employee hopes DeGeneres will learn the error of her ways. Meanwhile, DeGeneres says she believes the allegations were orchestrated against her.

In an interview with the Today Show, she said, “I really didn’t understand it. I still don’t understand it. It was too orchestrated. It was too coordinated. People get picked on, but for four months straight for me. And then for me to read in the press about a toxic work environment, when all I’ve ever heard from every guest that comes on the show is what a happy atmosphere this is and what a happy place this is.
