Last night, May 8, Elon Musk appeared on Saturday Night Live. His hosting gig was one of the most highly anticipated of the year – for a variety of reasons.
The billionaire was very excited to host the long-running show. Of course, people had mixed emotions about his appearance on the show. But, he didn’t seem to be bothered by those people’s hesitations.
During the episode, Elon Musk, as is tradition, participated in many of the skits that the show does. Afterward, he took to Twitter to share his favorite moment from his hosting experience.
For those who watched, it might not surprise you to hear that his favorite part was participating in the Wario sketch. During the skit, he dressed up as the famous Mario character Wario. He was joined by Grimes in the scene, who played the part of Princess Peach.
The SNL skit was about a courtroom case between the two Mario characters. During this, Princess Peach was accused by Wario of having an affair with Luigi.
Dave Chapelle Came to the Defense of Elon Musk, Supporting the Billionaire in His Hosting Gig
While some voiced opposition to Musk hosting, one celebrity came to the Tesla CEO’s defense: comedian Dave Chappelle.
Before the show, there was a lot of controversy surrounding the host. Two outspoken critics of Elon musk turned out to be cast members of the show – Bowen Yang and Andrew Dismukes. But, after Musk’s turn guest starring on the show, the controversy seemed to ease.
Before the show aired, Chappelle went on the Joe Rogan Experience and talked about the upcoming Saturday Night Live episode. He talked about how was in complete support of the billionaire CEO.
“Like you said, no one can be woke enough,” Chappelle said on Joe Rogan’s podcast. “I’m torn. Because I like a warrior for a good cause, but I’m really into tactics. You’re not gonna nag people into behaving…In fact, if you continue with this tone, even if you’re right, you’ll be very hard to hear.”
Even though Chappelle had some “incredibly kind” words for Elon Musk, he accidentally slipped up. Unfortunately, his memory of meeting the CEO might have hurt his feelings.
“I teased him about being the richest man on earth, and he took it with good humor,” Chappelle remembered. “What’s funny, I had hung out with him years ago, after I quit ‘Chappelle’s Show’…we hung out on a tour bus, and he says to me that night…‘I met you before.’ I’m like, ‘Well, I have no recollection.’ He looked kinda hurt.”
