Elon Musk may have kept viewers laughing during his debut as host on “Saturday Night Live,” but afterward, it was a different story. During a sketch from the show, the Tesla founder played the Nintendo character Wario while his girlfriend, Grimes, made a small appearance as Princess Peach.

While all seemed to go well, off-screen, things didn’t go as planned. On Tuesday, Elon Musk’s girlfriend revealed in an Instagram post that she suffered a panic attack following the taping.

“Forgot to post these cuz I somehow caused myself to have a panic attack and went to the hospital yesterday which tbh was quite scary and I suppose it’s a good time to start therapy,” she wrote in the caption alongside herself dressed in her Princess Peach costume standing next to Miley Cyrus. Cyrus was the musical guest for the evening.

“But nonetheless – wowwwww @mileycyrus is good live and so chill!” she continued.

The “Oblivion” singer also thanked the “SNL” staff and gushed over her boyfriend, even though it would “upset” her fans. “So grateful to the SNL team for being so kind and letting me sneak in as princess peach snd so proud of my beautiful E (which I know will upset the grimes fans so I apologize in advance) but he killed it,” she finished the post.

The 49-year-old billionaire, who went into his “SNL” gig as one of the most controversial guest hosts the show has ever seen, used the show’s platform to reveal his Asperger’s disorder. He also participated in a “Weekend Update” segment to explain cryptocurrencies to “SNL” cast member Michael Che.

Near the end of the episode, Elon Musk played Wario and made Nintendo jokes when Grimes made her appearance as the video game princess. Following the SpaceX founder’s debut, Grimes and Musk attended a crypto-themed afterparty accompanied by “SNL” co-creator Lorne Michaels, Chris Rock, Colin Jost, and Matt Stone of “South Park.”

The two introduced themselves as a couple at the 2018 Met Gala. They later welcomed their son, X AE A-Xii, on May 4, 2020. During his hosting gig, Elon Musk referenced their 12-month-old child’s unique name, joking in his monologue that it’s pronounced like a “cat running across the keyboard.”

Last fall, Grimes revealed that their son already has a passion for “radical art.” During an interview with The New York Times, Grimes said, “I’ve watched Apocalypse Now and stuff with my baby.” She added, “He’s into radical art. Like, he just actually is, and I don’t think it’s problematic to engage with them on that level.”
