Even though Elvis Presley didn’t create rock ‘n roll himself, he had his own style and tone, and a stage presence that will live on forever.
All of that was on display on Friday evening when the Elvis Presley Estate dropped an epic photo of the king on stage. Presley is down on one knee in his iconic white jumpsuit. It is definitely an image that will bring all of the Elvis nostalgia rushing back in full force.
“‘Hurt’ from Elvis’ album ‘From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee’ was a top hit on both the Country and Adult Contemporary charts!”
From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee is the 23rd studio album that Elvis Presley released. It became the fourth of Elvis’ albums to hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard country music album sales chart. And not only that, but it wound up being certified Gold on October 10, 1977, by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Meanwhile, the song, “Hurt”, was the tenth song on the album. It was a top 10 hit on both the country and adult contemporary charts.
Elvis Presley and His Iconic White Jumpsuit
Part of what makes the Elvis Presley Estate’s photo so great is that Elvis was rocking his legendary white jumpsuit. Although other rock stars jammed out in t-shirts, ragged jeans, and worn-out shoes, Elvis Presley wasn’t about that life.
After all, this is the King of Rock ‘n Roll we are talking about. If you grew up listening to Elvis, there was never a time that you saw him on stage in anything less than his best. The King made sure to give his audiences a thrill with both his music and his looks. And years later, his style is just as iconic as his music.
Despite having a great fashion sense himself, Presley’s costume designer, Bill Belew, helped him take his style to the next level.
“You could be daring as a designer and put anything on Elvis and he could make it work,” Belew once said. “And the simplest outfits that didn’t seem particularly remarkable on the rack transformed into something spectacular when Elvis put them on. He was that beautiful and powerful a presence.”
There is no question that Elvis Presley’s awesome outfits made his stage presence all the more entertaining and memorable.
