From her bouffant hair to her bedazzled denim, the King of Rock-and-Roll’s wife, Priscilla Presley, has always been known for her iconic outfits. As it turns out, her granddaughter, Riley Keough is no different.
The 32-year-old actress recently posted a photo on Instagram, in which she’s dressed head-to-toe in aqua blue. Keough sports a fitted turtleneck shirt tucked into straight-legged trousers with a metal belt. While laying on an ornate rug, she shows off the most recognizable elements of retro fashion: a drastic eye shadow, hoop earrings and a stark middle part.
Along with her grandmother’s influence, her recent fashion sense might also draw inspiration from her role in the upcoming film, Zola, in which she portrays a stripper named Stefani.
Making Priscilla Presley Proud
Besides her many roles in films throughout the years, Riley Keough is making headlines as a fashion icon, just like her grandmother. As the release date of her upcoming film draws closer, Keough has posted several photos over the past week that are reminiscent of Priscilla Presley’s style. One featured the young star in a cheetah print top with her hair pulled behind a headband and a familiar voluminous bump.
As a result, her recent role seems to give her a renewed sense of appreciation for her grandmother’s fashion sense.
Fashion Tips From Grandma
In the 1960s, Priscilla Presley was known for thick eyeliner and big hair. The most notable example of this fashion choice was right after the birth of the Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie, in 1968. According to VICE, the family was still in the hospital at the time of the photo. However, no one would have known because of how polished the new mother looked.
By the 1970s, Presley traded her show-stopping features for a much more subtle style. Her teased, black hair became soft, chestnut waves, and her makeup took on a more natural feel. Denim seemed to dominate her wardrobe, replacing her previously popular tight, short dresses.
This seems to be the style that Priscilla Presley’s granddaughter admires most. Just like in Riley Keough’s latest photo, Priscilla Presley rocked a classic all-blue outfit. While filming Those Amazing Animals in 1980, Presley wore a pinstriped, powder blue jumpsuit that zipped down to her waist. She finished the look with a red, wide-brimmed cap. Both elegant and casual at the same time, Presley made being fashionable look effortless.
Now the grandmother to a rising star, Presley’s influence seems to transcend time. Riley Keough continues to honor her grandmother in her work on camera as well as her personal expression. As she continues to demonstrate her vintage fashion sense, Keough demonstrates that we can all take a page out of Priscilla Presley’s book.
