Elvis Presley Once Convinced Priscilla to Alter Her Looks: Here’s Why

by Joe Rutland

Elvis Presley loved Priscilla Presley so much that he married the beautiful woman. But Presley had a rather unique request of her.

It seems that “The King” wanted his new bride to look kind of like him with dark, black hair. Priscilla Presley revealed this fact during a 2015 interview with ITV’s “This Morning” show.

“He did want me to dye my hair black when I was young so we could look alike a little bit,” she said.

She said that she met Presley when she was 14 years old. They did not marry until 1967 before she gave birth to their only child, Lisa Marie, in 1968.

Priscilla Presley Called Elvis Presley Love Of Her Life

The couple divorced in 1973. Priscilla Presley said in the interview that she called Elvis the love of her life even years later since Presley died in 1977.

Over the years, Priscilla Presley has had different hair colors. All of them showed respectability toward herself and her looks. Presley also showed herself to be both a businesswoman and a solid actress, too.

After Presley’s death, his home Graceland was almost placed on the market. But Priscilla stepped in, hired someone to oversee the home’s affairs, and turned it into a must-see place for Elvis fans.

Presley Plays Major Role In Saving Graceland From Being Sold

It was a gamble, but all the money put in toward saving Graceland (including back taxes) came back within four weeks of opening Graceland to the public. The move also proved valuable to Lisa Marie as her inheritance had dwindled down a lot by 1982.

On June 7, 1982, the public was welcome into Elvis’ home and Graceland has been a must-see attraction in Memphis, Tenn., since that date.

Meanwhile, she found herself on CBS’s red-hot drama “Dallas” for five seasons. She played Jenna Wade and was the third actress to do so on the show. For another generation, she played Jane Spencer in all three “The Naked Gun” movies with star Leslie Nielsen.

Priscilla Presley has shown herself to be a strong, vibrant woman who goes far beyond changing hairstyles. Despite their troubles during the marriage, she has done “a solid” by keeping the Elvis name alive all these years later.
