At this rate, it feels like the “Fast and Furious” franchise is going to be around until the end of time. However, it’s scripted to end soon.
Over the course of the past two decades, there have been 10 different movies in the popular franchise. It started in 2001 with “The Fast and the Furious” and just hit movie number 10 in June with the release of “F9.”
The franchise has featured plenty of beloved actors like the late Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Sung Kang, Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, Jason Statham, and Lucas Black.
Release Date for ‘Fast and Furious 10’
Now, the franchise just released its next release date for “Fast and Furious 10.” The movie is set to hit theaters on April 7, 2023. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is going to be directed by Justin Lin. He is actually going to be responsible for film numbers 10 and 11. He has been around for the last five “Fast and Furious” movies since 2006.
These are said to be the conclusion of the “core movies” in the franchise. There are other spinoffs that are ongoing. Chris Morgan is going to write the script for the fast-paced action movie.
The movie isn’t doing anything too unpredictable as of now. It will be bringing back infamous cast regulars Sung Kang, Vin Diesel, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson. Jason Statham’s character may make an appearance as well.
“Fast and Furious” remains a massive franchise, which is likely why creators haven’t yet put it to rest. It has so far made $6.3 billion. This even includes the spinoff film from 2019, “Hobbs & Shaw.” The most recent film, “F9” was able to make $681 million during its worldwide showcase, despite the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on the filmmaking and viewing process.
‘Fast and Furious’ Pushing the Limits
Given the fact that the franchise has been around for two decades, writers are definitely reaching for new areas of interest to explore on the screen.
Street racing quickly went to cars jumping across buildings and dealing with spies. One of the most prevalent concepts has been using technology in order for cars to reach extraordinary new standards. For example, in “F9” characters were briefly up in space because, why not.
The franchise is also home to an animated series, “Fast & Furious: Spy Racers” as well. During season five of the show, underwater cars were introduced into the storyline. Now, many fans believe that these cars could become canon for the final two “Fast and Furious” movies.
It may seem like a stretch, but it’s certainly something the franchise would explore. The franchise definitely makes it so fans never know what to expect. As one fan wrote on Twitter, “I’m certain there’s going to be aliens in this one.”
