In FBI: Most Wanted, Julian McMahon plays a different sort of character than in his previous shows.
Millions of Americans first knew McMahon, the son of a former Australian Prime Minister, from the soap opera world. Then there was Charmed. McMahon’s most popular role might’ve been as Dr. Christian Troy on Nip/Tuck.
And now he’s Jess LaCroix on FBI: Most Wanted. McMahon, as LaCroix leads the fugitive task force, which tracks down some of this country’s most hideous criminals.
There’s a softer side to LaCroix, too. He is the single father of daughter, Tali. Her mother, LaCroix’s wife, died.
During a Q&A Thursday, McMahon was asked “how much texture does being a single dad bring to your character?”
McMahon’s response?
“Look, I have to tell you, that kind of attribute to the character is one that was very engaging to me,” the FBI: Most Wanted star said. “And (it’s) one of the reasons I wanted to be part of the show!”
‘FBI: Most Wanted’ Is In Middle of All-FBI Premiere on CBS
If you’re a fan of Dick Wolf, the prolific creator behind the Law & Order franchise, circle this date: Sept. 21. Call it the CBS night to honor the FBI because there will be triple crossovers. It starts with FBI, then McMahon’s FBI: Most Wanted, followed by new spinoff FBI: International.
The FBI: Most Wanted season three premiere episode is about “a local FBI case involving two murdered women and a sea of powerful men.” Show writers called the episode Exposed.
Dick Wolf teased more of the crossover event during a Television Critics Association press tour. The running theme will revolve around a Jeffrey Epstein-type character.
“The crossover embodies what these shows are supposed to be,” Wolf said. “All the shows are fiction, I start with that. But there are certain elements that will remind the audience of Jeffrey Epstein [and] other people who have been in the papers over the past year (like) Ghislaine Maxwell. It’s really exciting. It’s not the same story, but it’s a story that, in its scale, not only justifies but thrives on three hours in a row.”
McMahon and Kellan Lutz, another star of FBI: Most Wanted will appear in the first FBI hour. That premiere focuses on a young woman who is murdered on her way home from attending a party on a yacht.
When it hits FBI: Most Wanted, there’s now a manhunt. By hour three, the chase turns global, which allows Wolf to introduce FBI: International.
Now, circling back to the original question McMahon answered during the Q&A, the 53-year-old star spent part of his life as a single dad. He and his second-wife Brooke Burke are the parents of daughter, Madison. And Madison was the one who talked her dad into marrying his third wife, Kelly Paniagua.
