‘Fixer Upper’ Star Chip Gaines Credits the ‘Power’ of One Thing When Trying to Update Your Space

Are you or is someone you know trying to bring new life to an outdated space? Well, Fixer Upper star Chip Gaines may have just the advice you’re looking for.

Home and garden television fans know Chip and Joanna Gaines from the show Fixer Upper. The high-profile couple started the show back in May of 2013. Subsequently, Fixer Upper ran for a solid five seasons before ultimately ending in 2018. But despite being on the air for just five years, the renovation and design show quickly became one of the most popular shows on the entire HGTV network. And as a result, the Gaines usually always have people turning to them for remodeling advice.

That was the case yet again back in February of 2018. Chip Gaines sat down with Sarah Joy to do an interview for her blog. Joy admits in the intro of her post that she has long been a Fixer Upper “fangirl” and that she has watched every single episode of the hit show. With that said, you can imagine just how special it was for her to be able to speak with Chip Gaines.

‘Fixer Upper’ Star Believes in the ‘Power of Paint’

That’s where this story gets even better. Not only was Sarah Joy able to just talk to Chip Gaines, but she was also even able to ask the HGTV star about her own home renovation advice. She started by sending Gaines a photo of the bar area in her basement and asking how she can give it a new look.

“The bar area in our basement has an outdated look and I’d love to spruce it up a bit,” Joy said. “How would you suggest we update this area to give it a fresh new look?”

That’s when Gaines responded with a simple yet practical answer: paint. The Fixer Upper star strongly believes in the power of paint when it comes to giving an old area a new look.

“I know I say this a lot,” Gaines replied. “But I really can’t overstate the power of paint when you’re looking to spruce up an outdated space.”

It’s safe to say that there are a lot of readers out there who can relate. Maybe you have experienced the power of paint for yourself? Either way, Chip Gaines stands by his advice to Sarah Joy about re-painting her bar.

“It seems like you get a whole lot of natural light from that patio door. So you could probably get away with using a darker color if you’re wanting a more dramatic look,” he advised. ” Just add a fresh coat to the wall or the base of that bar, and I think you’ll be able to see a big difference right off the bat.”
