“Fixer Upper” stars Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines appear to be very much in love.

During a 2016 interview with I Am Second, Chip explained one of the many reasons why he loves his wife. This specific reason involves her willingness to let him be himself.

“I think that’s one of the reasons that I love her like I do,” Chip shared. “I mean, I feel like she knows me in a way that has caused me to stop acting. You know?”

The “Fixer Upper” star then went on to explain how he felt like he was pretending to be a person he is not during much of his life. Thanks to Joanna, he no longer felt the need to do that. She allowed him just to be himself.

“I feel like I’ve really been an actor. I’ve been a character my whole life,” Chip Gaines also shared. “I’ve always tried to prove something to someone.”

Also during this 2016 interview, the “Fixer Upper” star talked about qualities that make him different from his wife. “I would have been the guy on a horseback riding off into the wilderness,” Chip said. “I mean, that’s who I sort of was by nature. And Jo could not be more opposite than that.”

‘Fixer Upper’ Star Joanna Gaines Said Her Husband Does Not Allow ‘Fear and Failure’ to Stand in His Way

Joanna Gaines also praised her husband and her “Fixer Upper” partner for his resilience.

“Fear and failure doesn’t even cross his mind,” she said of Chip. “He doesn’t let that even go through one ear and out the other.

Like pretty much all couples out there, the “Fixer Upper” stars do have their differences. For example, Joanna described herself as a “rule follower.” Chip, on the other hand, likes to live more outside the lines. Even so, they have found a way to understand one another.

“I used to drive my truck and I would play a little game with myself to see how out of gas I could get without, in fact, running completely out of gas,” Chip said. His wife made her shock at this behavior known to her husband. “And she was like, ‘Why would anybody want to play that?'”

That seems like a very reasonable question, doesn’t it? Anyway, it appears that “Fixer Upper” star Joanna Gaines has been able to adjust to living with someone who likes to live more on the edge.

“For someone who is a rule follower to a T, it’s an adventure,” Joanna said of sharing her life with Chip. “
