Get excited because the Fresh Prince and the beloved Banks family from Bel-Air are back!

The cast of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air are reuniting for a television special on HBO Max in November. Will Smith’s company Westbrook Media will be producing the special to honor of the show’s 30-year anniversary this September.

The feature will star Will Smith himself along with several of his former cast mates, including Tatyana Ali (Ashley Banks), Karyn Parsons (Hilary Banks), Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Vivian Banks), and Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks), along with the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jazz).

Missing for the occasion, however, will be actor James Avery who played Uncle Phil in the series. Avery died due to complications of open-heart surgery in 2013.

The special will include a nostalgic look back on some of the best moments from the show’s history. In addition, it will bring a “funny and heartfelt” night of musical entertainment and special guest appearances while celebrating the show that ran for six seasons and 148 episodes.

“Now this is a story all about how… the cast of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunites for a one-time special! Coming around Thanksgiving only on HBO Max!” tweeted the popular streaming service.

Fresh Prince Fans Are Getting Excited

As news broke out about the reunion surprise, fans of the show clearly couldn’t be happier. “I’m practicing my Carlton dance for this,” one fan tweeted. Another wrote, “This is the news I needed in 2020.”

Much love was pouring out on social media in remembrance of James Avery. “He will be missed,” many fans commented about the actor and his character, Uncle Phil.

The special will film on September 10 and will premiere on HBO Max around Thanksgiving.
