It was back in 1961 that George Clooney was born in Lexington, KY. Since then he has become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Now, with all those years behind him, he has some insight.
When Clooney was out on the red carpet of the London Film Festival. The former star of ER was willing to share some knowledge about his new age. It seems that he is taking things gracefully, as he joked along with the AP reporter and someone else off-camera.
The reporter asked Clooney how it felt to be 60 years old. Of course, the actor hasn’t aged in the last 20 years, except for very subtle changes like the stubbly beard he keeps lately. He was very sarcastic in his response and got quite a reaction from the press there.
“Now listen, turning 60 is not fun, as you can imagine,” George Clooney said. “But, it’s better than dead, so I’ll take it and I’ll take whatever job I can get.”
Then the actor pointed to someone off-camera and said that they would relate to what he was saying. Or perhaps they didn’t, it is unclear. But, very funny to see the actor/director with some dry humor. “You know what I’m saying. He’s not 60 so he can laugh,” Clooney says as the video ends.
The handsome lead actor has been gracing screens for decades at this point. Apparently, something of a sore spot for him if you want to take his comments above seriously. Over the years, Clooney has been a rather uncontroversial figure. He has starred in critically acclaimed films and won plenty of awards. However, there is one thing that he doesn’t want to even think about doing.
George Clooney Doesn’t Want to Be President
For some of those that have seen George Clooney on screen, they think the actor would be suited for the highest position in the country. Despite some fans thinking that Clooney would make a good president, the actor does not want to have anything to do with it.
“I turned 60 this year,” the actor said to BBC’s Andrew Marr. “And I had a conversation with my wife, and we were working a lot, as we both do, and I said we have to think of these as the halcyon years,” Clooney lamented.
“In 20 year, I will be 80 and that’s a real number. Doesn’t matter how much you work out, what you eat, you’re 80 and so I said we have to make sure we enjoy and live these years in the best possible way,” he continued.
It is clear that George Clooney is not going to be Commander-in-Chief any time soon. Don’t hold your breath. Right now, the 60-year-old is planning on enjoying his time. He wants to “play basketball and still do things I love,” while he still can. That’s something we can all hope to do in our golden years.
