‘Gold Rush’: Here’s Why Ashley Youle Left the Show

During season seven of Gold Rush, Parker Schnabel’s girlfriend joined the cast as a recurring star. But after a surprising split over the summer of 2018, she left the show.

In 2016, Parker Schnabel met “a really cool chick” named Ashley Youle while spending some time in Australia. The two hit it off so well that they started a relationship that spanned two years.

After a few months of dating, the couple was so serious that Schnabel asked Youle to join him on the set of Gold Rush. And she agreed. The veterinary nurse appeared in 18 episodes of Discovery’s long-running reality series.

Youle seemed to be a great addition to her boyfriend’s team. And the couple was so smitten with each other that the crew started a “Big Kiss Competition” to see which cameraman could catch the most smooches for the show’s footage—despite the fact that it made Schnabel incredibly uncomfortable.

“Ashley was a huge help,” Schnabel gushed during a 2017 Maxim interview. “I don’t think she gets quite enough credit for how well the summer went. She is great to be around, she is great for me and she is just a really cool chick.”

But between seasons eight and nine, Parker Schnabel and Ashley Youle split up, and her time on the series came to an end.

While the reason for the breakup was never revealed, Schnabel did express regret during the season nine opener of Gold Rush titled Win Big or Die Trying.

“As successful as our season was, there was, for me personally, one pretty big failure,” Schnabel admitted during the episode. “Ashley and I broke up. I just never made the relationship a priority, I didn’t make her a priority. And honestly, she deserves a lot better than that.”

‘Gold Rush’: Parker Schnabel Revealed the Issues He Had with Rick Ness Starting Own Company

During a few seasons of Gold Rush, Parker Schnabel’s long-time friend Rick Ness worked as Schnabel’s foreman. But after years of butting heads, the union came to an end.

When Todd Hoffman left Gold Rush in February of 2018, there was an opening for a new mine boss. And that gave Ness the perfect opportunity to branch out and start his own company. Luckily, Schnabel understood why his friend wanted to leave, and he supported the choice. But the situation caused a few problems for Schnable’s company.

Shortly after Ness left, Parker Schnabel spoke about how the split affected his company with The Guide Online.

“We had two big hurdles to jump this season,” he said. “The first one, of course, we had a foreman, Rick Ness, quit and went out on his own mining. Overcoming that for our business was a [sic] difficult, and we had to deal with the fallout of that, and I had to figure it all out. It created a bit of a power vacuum that caused some issues as you guys will see on the show.”
