A lot of Outsiders probably look at “Gold Rush” miner Parker Schnabel and think he’s going to be doing that for life. Is he there for life?

“I have no idea,” Schnabel said in an interview with The Malestrom. “There’s nobody in business who can say, ‘I’m doing this for the next fifty years.’ I take it as it comes and I’ll still do it as long as I can make money doing it and I enjoy it.”

It appears that Schnabel might be one of those guys who stays real present in a certain moment. “Gold Rush” has been and continues to be a wonderful show on The Discovery Channel. The show premiered on Dec. 3, 2010, and has offered up 11 seasons of danger, excitement, and intrigue.

‘Gold Rush’ Star Said High Stakes On Show Keep People Interested

While there are a lot of factors that keep people tuning in to “Gold Rush” episodes, Schnabel said he thinks it is the high stakes involved with mining that does it.

“It’s definitely a show that has all the right elements for something to be really appealing,” Schnabel said. “There’s a huge amount of hard work, there’s a huge amount of uncertainty. There’s also a lot of risk and a lot of reward.

“So it’s got all of those elements that make something appealing,” he said. “But then so do a lot of the shows that are commissioned every day that aren’t nearly as successful, so who knows? It’s tough to say.”

For Schnabel, he’s been at gold mining since he was a teenager. His hard work and effort have allowed him to amass $10 million in worth. But Schnabel does not rest on his laurels. Like his earlier comment, he doesn’t know how long he’ll be in the mining business.

One thing is for sure, though. “Gold Rush” and being a part of the show have helped Schnabel and his gold-mining friends in the public eye.

Schnabel Talked About Getting Started in Mining At Young Age

As we mentioned earlier, Schnabel got involved with gold mining as a teenager. Specifically, he was 15 years old.

When asked about starting at that age, Schnabel said, “Yeah, we were on there a little bit right. It’s been a very long, interesting time that’s for sure.”

He also was asked if being taken seriously at 15 years old was difficult.

“You know, it wasn’t too difficult because I did really enjoy it,” the “Gold Rush” star said. “And in the early years, I had a lot of fun doing the show and learning how to mine. It was a struggle, but it was also fun.”

But Schnabel also found success within the struggle.
