‘Golden Girls’: Chick Vennera Also Voiced Cartoon Characters on Hit Shows

During his acting career, Chick Vennera played many roles. Two of the most popular of his characters came during the late 1980s when he appeared in episodes of “The Golden Girls.”

Sadly, the Herkimer, New York, native passed away on Wednesday, July 7. He was 74 years old at the time of his death in Burbank, California, according to Deadline. Cancer is what reportedly led to his death.

In addition to his work on “The Golden Girls,” Vennera was also respected for his work in roles when you could not see his face on the screen. The actor lent his voice to several popular cartoons during his career.

For example, according to IMDb, a few years before he appeared on “The Golden Girls,” Chick Vennera was a voice actor in a 1985 episode of the famous cartoon, “The Jetsons.” The actor was hired to use his voice in the episode titled, “Elroy in Wonderland.”

From 1986 through 1987, the actor was hired for his voice acting once again. This time was in the series “Foofur.” In this television show, Vennera voiced the character of Sam for 16 episodes.

Chick Vennera appeared on “The Golden Girls” in 1989. That same year he worked as a voice actor in a television short of “The Karate Kid.”

After “The Golden Girls,” Vennera continued his voice acting work on television. He worked in a 1992 episode of “Capitol Critters.”

That same year he worked in an episode of “Batman: The Animated Series.”

His voice also appeared in a 1992 episode of “Darkwing Duck.”

He followed this up in 1993 with his voice work in the series “Bonkers.”

One of the longest-lasting voicework roles Chick Vennera had during his career began in 1993 and lasted until 1998. This was for the series “Animaniacs.”

In this cartoon, “The Golden Girls” actor voiced three different characters. These were Pesto, Sparrow, and Joe P.

While he was appearing in “Animaniacs,” Vennera also appeared in another cartoon series. This was “The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest.”

The actor lent his voice to nine episodes of this show during 1996 and 1997. He played the character of Lorenzo and Walker in this series, while also voicing other characters.

Chick Venerra’s appearances in “The Golden Girls” took place in 1989. He appeared in three episodes and played two different characters in the still-famous sitcom. The actor’s first appearance came in the fourth season episode titled, “Fiddler On the Ropes.” He played a boxer named Pepe in this episode.

In his other two appearances on “The Golden Girls,” Venerra played the character of Enrique Mas – a local consumer reporter. These appearances took place during the sitcom’s fifth season.
