Iconic singer Gwen Stefani is getting up close and personal with some wildlife to learn more about conservation efforts. She just posted a new photo from the San Diego Zoo. Stefani, who rose to fame during her time with the Band “No Doubt,” recently married country singer Blake Shelton. She’s also been busy releasing new music both with Shelton and independently.

“Thx u for having us @sandiegozoo!,” the singer wrote on her Instagram. “We loved learning about the animals and the important conservation work being done.”

Fans welcomed Stefani to San Diego as well as praised the zoo for its conservation efforts.

“I love SD Zoo and what they do for the animals,” one fan wrote.

“Welcome to San Diego!” another Instagram user said.

According to TMZ, Stefani went to the Zoo with Shelton and some friends and family. Shelton and Stefani announced their engagement in October of last year. Earlier this Summer, the two got married at Shelton’s ranch.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Met on ‘The Voice’

Shelton and Stefani met in an interesting way. The two got close on the set of The Voice, a singing competition show where the two were both coaches. Stefani was only on the show for a few years, but Blake Shelton is still a coach and has been on the show since its beginning in 2011.

“People ask me all the time, ‘What’s the greatest thing that’s happened to you since you’ve been on The Voice? That’s a no-brainer, right? I met my fiancée here,” Shelton told Entertainment Tonight in May.

Stefani, known primarily for her pop superstardom and Shelton, known for his country success and goofy personality, don’t seem like an obvious couple. But the two just seem to work. Shelton further explained their connection to Entertainment Tonight.

“If you had told me back in 1996 that Gwen Stefani was gonna be my girlfriend, I would have laughed you out of the room. I would have thought you were crazy,” Blake joked. “Saying it right now, I almost bust out laughing, that’s how ridiculous it is.”

Still, Shelton’s always been a fierce competitor on the voice. He not only respected Stefani as a singer and person, but he loved what she brought to the show.

“Here’s this iconic rock star coming to be a coach on The Voice in a black minivan. I love it when she’s here. She brings a very complicated element of competition for me in particular. But I love that.”

As unlikely as it is, it’s clear the two have found love with eachother. They work together professionally and share a passion for music, no matter how different their influences are.
