Gwen Stefani Opens Up About Wedding Day With Blake Shelton: ‘One of the Greatest Moments of My Life’

Gwen Stefani still is basking in the warm and blissful newlywed glow.

The pop star and Blake Shelton were married, July 3, in an intimate ceremony on Shelton’s ranch. Weeks later, Gwen Stefani still is in gush mode.

She described her current mood as “total honeymoon vibes right now,” during an interview with the podcast Tell Me About It with Jade Iovine.

“It was beyond what I thought it was gonna be,” Stefani said.

It’s the second marriage for the 51-year-old Gwen Stefani and the third for Shelton, who is 45. The wedding was small, with only 40 family and friends attending the ceremony and reception. In the months leading up to the wedding, Shelton had the chapel built on his ranch in Oklahoma, so the ceremony literally felt like home, except everybody was dressed up.

And speaking of dresses, Gwen Stefani wore two of them for the ceremony and reception. Vera Wang designed both. Stefani is a style influencer who isn’t afraid to take a fashion chance. She usually embraces vibrant colors, but a traditional wedding can limit your choices.

“I tried on one dress and then I was like ‘I don’t know, that didn’t feel right,’” Gwen Stefani said. “And then I tried another one on and it was like ‘Awww that’s the one.’ It was like Say Yes to the Dress and then I just went with it.”

The Vera Wang Instagram account posted details of Stefani’s ceremony dress. It was from the Vera Wang Haute collection. Stefani “chose a custom lily-white silk georgette and hand tumbled tulle high low gown with a plunging neckline and a cutaway back. The gown was worn with a lily-white chapel length veil featuring hand-embroidered names of Blake, Gwen (and sons) Kingston, Zuma and Apollo flanked by 2 white roses at the hem of the veil.”

Gwen Stefani Said Her New Husband Is “Genuine’

Stefani also gushed over her new husband. The couple started dating five years ago after meeting on the set of The Voice. Although the two didn’t become formally engaged until last fall, it was obvious for a long time they were headed towards a wedding.

Gwen Stefani said: “That man is the same guy you see, no matter who he’s with, what he’s doing. I look at him sleeping, and he’s the same guy. And he’s very real and consistent and genuine. It’s what is so attractive and why people love him so much.”

Shelton even wrote a song as a way to recite his vows. It doesn’t get more romantic than that.

Although Stefani still is feeling like a newlywed, she’s focusing on her career, too. There wasn’t much time for a honeymoon. She’s finishing a solo album, while readying for her concert series in Las Vegas. Shelton is filming this fall’s episodes for The Voice. He also restarts his Friends and Heroes tour next month. The Covid pandemic forced a postponement of it last year.
