Lots of men have the unfortunate habit of forgetting or mixing up important dates. So many men have had the “I thought our anniversary was next week!?!?” moment. Today, Blake Shelton had one of those moments with his fiancee’s newest release. Gwen Stefani released her newest single, “Slow Clap,” today despite her significant other’s understanding. Shelton joked about it on Twitter today.
“Well I thought it was coming out tomorrow but it’s out NOW!!!!” Blake Shelton said on Twitter. “Slow Clap!!! Congratulations Gwen Stafani!! Love you!!”
The miscommunication makes no sense considering they spend almost every waking hour together. Between their roles on The Voice and their romantic relationship, one would think they could coordinate on a release date. But, alas, men’s brains work in mysterious ways, and sometimes the most important dates can get lost.
Gwen Stefani Releases “Slow Clap”
“Slow Clap” comes as the second single off of the upcoming album from Gwen Stefani. The song follows her 2020 release of “Let Me Reintroduce Myself,” but comes as her first release of the new year. Both of the singles were written by the same team of Stefani, Ross Golan, and producer Luke Niccoli. According to Billboard, she has almost 20 songs written for her new album.
Gwen Stefani’s upcoming album, if it reflects her latest singles, will revisit her original roots in reggae and ska music. In her early days with No Doubt, she really drew influence from the happier upbeat songs from those genres. She spoke about her writing process in a recent interview with Billboard.
“I just had this lightbulb moment,” Stefani said. “I was like, ‘I really want to investigate where I started in music — the reggae and ska when I first fell in love with music when it defined who I was. Like I really want to do happy music, that’s where it all started.’ Once I got into that mode, it was like a wildfire, because every person I went in with, we were just so inspired and excited to be doing that kind of music.”
