Gwen Stefani Reveals Blake Shelton Was Mastermind Behind Her Recent Music Video

by Thad Mitchell

Though we are only a few days into 2021, it is already a big year for pop star Gwen Stefani.

The former No Doubt lead singer has a chart-topping hit single in “Let Me Reintroduce Myself.” The video is also doing quite well since hitting air waves on New Year’s Day. With already a great deal of success in the new year, Stefani’s 2021 is bound to produce even more excitement in her career and personal life.

Later this year, she will marry the love of her life, country music superstar Blake Shelton. The “Honey Bee” singer popped the big question Stefani in October of last year at his Oklahoma ranch. The couple plans to tie the knot in the same location in a chapel that Shelton built by hand.

With the early spotlight pointing directly toward the “Holla Back Girl” singer, she is thankful to have so much positivity in her life. On Tuesday, she joined Tonight Show Host Jimmy Fallon to talk about her new song, engagement and upcoming plans for the new year.

Her latest song rose immediately to the top of the charts a short time after its release on December 7. Fallon says Stefani released the song at the perfect moment with the current state of the world. Stefani says she was inspired to write uplifting music in light of recent events such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gwen Stefani Gives Future Husband Credit for Video

When Fallon asks her where the idea for the music video came from, Stefani passed the credit to her future husband.

“My original idea for the video was ‘you be Blake from the 90’s’ like with the mullet,” she explains. “I will be the ‘Just a Girl’ me and we’ll be the different versions of ourselves.”

Though an interesting idea, Stefani says Blake didn’t go for it. But the country star did have an idea of his own for the music video.

“He called me while driving to the airport and said you should dress up as you in all your old looks,” she says. “I was like ‘Whoa, that’s actually a really good idea.'”

She went with her fiance’s idea and now has one of the most viewed music videos in recent weeks, including 2.4 million views on YouTube.
