Gwen Stefani is teasing her fans about what is to come on New Year’s Day. The coach of ‘The Voice’ is performing on NBC’s New Year’s Eve show, but she is also teasing something happening on January 1, 2021.

Stefani posted to Instagram to share that something big is coming on New Year’s Day. For music fans everywhere, this is big news.

Stefani released her single, “Let Me Reintroduce Mysel,f” on December 7, and her fans are loving the song. So, the news of something coming on the first day of the new year is certainly exciting.

The Instagram post showcases a belt buckle with “Banana” proudly being displayed. She also is sneakily showing off her massive engagement ring from Blake Shelton.

But, more importantly, this news likely means that the music video for her song is coming on New Year’s Day. The word banana is the key to knowing why the music video is coming.

“In the first place (place), ’cause you know I’m like organic / And it tastes great (great), I already gave you bananas (woo) / Go ahead and help yourself, me again in your ear.”

Gwen Stefani Likely Releasing Music Video on Jan. 1

Stefani is not explicitly saying that the music video is coming on the first, but with some detective work, it’s fairly clear. So, let’s dive into the background of the song.

“Let Me Reintroduce Myself” is a ska reggae style song. Interestingly, it is also her first non-Christmas, non-duet track in more than four years. She also performed the song for the first time live on “The Voice” on December 7.

Stefani’s song harkens back to her Jamaican music roots. Jamaica is a really important part of her life. Her son is even named Kingston, after the capital of Jamaica.

Her new song is an upbeat track that traces its opening lyrics to her song, “Underneath It All.” Additionally, it also gives a direct nod to one of her biggest hits, “Hollaback Girl,” with the lyric, “I already gave you bananas.”

Stefani talked recently about what the song means to her. She also says that the new single is an important return to her musical roots, and she’s proud of the journey she’s had so far.

“This song is a way of saying I’m back with new music. It’s a fun, lighthearted song because I got inspired and hope to bring a little bit of joy. The idea was to write a song that had a bit of a nostalgic feeling to it. So, I think musically it reminds you of back in the day, going back to where I started musically, which was with ska and reggae. I’m still the same me, but here’s something a little bit new in case you feel like hearing a little bit more of me.”

So, in a couple of days, on January 1, make sure you tune into Stefani’s likely release of a music video. But, in the meantime, take a look back at some more of Stefani’s music.
