Hoards of parents jumped to their social media accounts to celebrate National Daughters’ Day recently. Some of our favorite mother-daughter tributes came from Candace Cameron Bure who chose to celebrate Natasha in a TikTok and Sadie Robertson who took to Instagram to show off her healthy baby, Honey James’ smile. Now, Gwyneth Paltrow is showing us the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in one of her latest Instagram posts.
Gwyneth Paltrow Celebrates Daughter Apple Martin
Between various acting roles and her entrepreneurial pursuits, the Goop queen managed to rack up nearly 8 million followers over the years. Although they are no longer together, Gwyneth Paltrow shares two children with Coldplay’s Chris Martin. There’s their daughter Apple Martin and their son Moses. While both children bear an uncanny resemblance to their mother, Apple is a total mini-me.
In the caption of her Daughters’ Day Appreciation Post, Gwyneth keeps things short and sweet. She says: “Oh man do I love you #nationaldaughtersday.” The two ladies rock similar necklaces, though Apple’s is gold and her mother’s is silver. They also seem to prefer a more natural look for the day with minimal makeup. Their matching blonde hair rests naturally. It might not be glam, but it sure is sweet!
Commenters on the post agree. The duo received plenty of little red heart emojis and words of affirmation. Some commenters even called them a “heavenly pair.” Other commenters couldn’t stop themselves from some wordplay and left an apple emoji paired with an eye emoji, calling Gwyneth’s daughter the apple of her eye.

So… Why Apple?
Apple isn’t really a name you hear often for a baby and Gwyneth Paltrow seems to get one question a lot: Why did you name your baby Apple? Well, in an appearance on Oprah’s talk show back in 2004, the superstar opened up about it. The question comes directly from an audience member and the whole studio cracks up about it. Even Gwyneth lets out a small laugh before diving into the topic. It turns out that the idea didn’t actually come from her. Here’s what she said on the matter:
“When we were first pregnant, her daddy said, ‘If it’s a girl I think her name should be Apple.’ It sounded so sweet, and it conjured such a lovely picture for me, you know. Apples are so sweet and they’re wholesome, and it’s biblical.”
Well, there you have it. Chris Martin is to blame… or thank depending on your view of things. The family maintains a healthy and cordial relationship despite Martin’s split with Paltrow back in 2017.
