On Monday, Hollywood film director and former child star Ron Howard celebrated his wedding anniversary with his wife of 46 years.
The “Andy Griffith Show” and “Happy Days” alum shared a sweet image to his Instagram with his wife, Cheryl. The two are cuddled up next to one another with celebratory rose-gold balloons in the background of the pic. “Our 46th Wedding anniversary. Celebrated quietly but beautifully on the #GoldCoast #QLD on my day off,” said the Academy Award winner. He added, “I’m a lucky fella.”
The two got married when they were both 21-years-old, they’re still going strong decades later. They tied the knot on June 7, 1975, when Ron Howard worked as an actor and Cheryl worked as a writer. Later, they welcomed four children together: Bryce, twins Jocelyn and Paige, and their son, Reed.
In 2019 he gushed to People about his spouse: “I met her, and there was never anybody else.” They first met when Howard was a junior at John Burroughs High School in Burbank, Calif.
Ron Howard Spills Details on First Date with Wife
In October, Ron Howard celebrated the 50th anniversary of his first date with his wife by showing off a gift they purchased in honor of the occasion. “November 1 1970 Cheryl & I went on our 1st date. We went to see a re-release of Stanley Kramer’s It’s a Mad Mad Mad World and then got some pizza at now defunct Barnone’s in Toluca Lake. Quite a start, right?” the Appollo 13 director revealed on Instagram.
He added, “Today we are celebrating with these kind of socks we ordered (Cheryl’s w/my mug got held up) and a trip to our local take-out pizza place,” he added, sharing a photo of socks adorned with his wife’s face on them. “We’ll be driving in the same ’70 VW Bug I picked Cheryl up in 5 decades ago. It runs great,” he said. “So do we.”
Ron Howard’s next movie set for release is Thirteen Lives which stars Colin Farrell, Joel Edgerton, and Viggo Mortensen. The film will follow an international rescue team as they attempt to save a boys’ football team. The team gets trapped in a cave in Thailand after it was flooded by heavy rain.
Based on actual events, the rescue made headlines across the globe as all 12 boys and their coach were saved. While there is no release date, we know that filming began on March 29, 2021, in Australia. Howard will also shoot it in Thailand.
