“Yeah, baby!” it’s time to celebrate Mike Myers’ birthday, the actor behind the hilariously infamous action spy hero, “Austin Powers.”

Myers was born on May 25, 1963, and is turning 58 today.

Celebrating his Best Roles

His most popular contributions include playing the title characters in”Wayne’s World,” “Austin Powers,” and “Shrek.” The actor and comedian also had a successful run on “Saturday Night Live” from 1989 to 1995.

Beyond just acting and comedy, Myers also has a few directing, producing, and screenwriting credits. He got his start entertaining people when he was only 2. He appeared in commercials at a young age. Eventually, he got a very small guest role spot in the “King of Kensington” TV series when he was 12. He also had a role on the TV series “Wide Awake Club” before “SNL.”

There are few people that could master the “oddball characters” in the way Mike Myers can. In fact, his character from “Saturday Night Live” would eventually become insanely popular. While first being in sketches, that character would grow into “Wayne’s World,” a feature film from 1992. Myers’ comedy centers around catchphrases and oddity as the main focal point.

After that, Myers would star in “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,” “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” and “Austin Powers in Goldmember.” He had very few roles that weren’t comedic in nature. Whether it was a sexually suggestive spy or a green ogre, Myers didn’t take himself too seriously.

Although many find him funny, he’s considered a more controversial comedic act. Many people either love him or hate him. He earned a Razzie for Worst Actor for his 2004 “The Cat In The Hat” movie.

According to Digital Spy, Myers happens to own the very last letter ever sent by George Harrison, one of the members of the Beatles. Apparently, Harrison was thanking Myers for his comedic movies and asked for a doll. Myers has this letter framed, obviously.

Where is Mike Myers Now?

Fans of the hilarious actor may have noticed he hasn’t been involved in the industry as much anymore.

The actor has been on hiatus since 2012. According to a 2012 interview with GQ, it seems casting directors had started to lose interest in hiring him. He said that he had only gotten 15 offers from 1991 to 2014 and has turned down almost all of them.

A part of his issue can be cited to working on the 2000 film “Dieters.” Except, he never finished the film at all. He quit halfway through production and blamed the script as his reason for the poor-timing departure.

According to The Guardian, he was sued by Universal for over $6 million, and Imagine Entertainment tacked on an extra $30 million for breaching the contract. He then countersued saying there were privacy violations, abuse of process, and fraud happening behind the scenes.

According to IMDb, his last credited role was in “Terminal” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” both in 2018. It does appear his hiatus is coming to an end to some degree. He has two untitled projects — one in post-production and the other in pre-production. There have also been rumors about a fourth “Austin Powers” movie.
