Happy birthday, Nicole Kidman! The Academy Award winner and producer is celebrating her 54th birthday on Sunday (June 20th).
As part of her birthday celebration, Nicole Kidman’s husband, Keith Urban, took to Instagram to post a sweet picture of her. “Happy happy birthday babygirl!!!!” Urban shares. Fans also showed some birthday love by wishing well wishes to the actress.
Nicole Kidman was born in 1967 in Hawaii but grew up in Sydney, Australia. She later married Hollywood heartthrob and Days of Thunder co-star Tom Cruise in 1990 but the couple divorced in 2001. She then married Urban in 2006. She has four children, two from her marriage with Cruise and two from her marriage with Urban.
Nicole’s Rise to Hollywood Fame
Nicole Kidman made her film debut in 1983. Her first film was Bush Christmas. Her breakthrough film was the 1989 thriller Dead Calm and she later starred alongside Cruise, in the 1990 racing film Days of Thunder.
Nicole Kitman has also appeared in various well-known films throughout the years, including Moulin Rouge!, The Hours, Cold Mountain, The Stepford Wives, Bewitched, Fur, Eyes Wide Shut, and Happy Feet. She is also a producer and was in the hit HBO series Little Big Lies.
In a recent interview with Backstage, Nicole Kidman stated that an actor “can’t be a control freak” and discusses the peaks and valleys of a career as an actress. “It’s not my pick of the litter, though, I have to say,” Kidman explains. “Because as any actor knows, so directors very much choose who they want in their films and who they want to play their characters. So you’re still, no matter where you’re at in your career, at the mercy of whether somebody wants us for a role.”
Nicole adds, “I’ve had the luxury and the ability to move into being a producer, which gives me a little more control over some of my destiny as an actor, but not all of it.”
Nicole Kidman Takes on the Role As Lucille Ball in Upcoming Biopic Being the Ricardos
Nicole Kidman recently spoke about her new role as Lucille Ball in the upcoming film Being the Ricardos. The bio-drama film will follow Lucy and Desi Amaz. It takes place over the course of a week during the production of the couple’s hit TV sitcom I Love Lucy. The couple encounters a crisis that may jeopardize their careers, as well as their marriage.
While discussing the film during Variety’s Actors on Actors interview series, Nicole Kidman says, “I’ve had to put in an enormous amount of time on Lucille Ball right now because she has a very particular way of speaking.”She then describes Lucille as “hopefully funny” and explains, “The strange thing about Lucille Ball is that everyone thinks we’re remaking the I Love Lucy show, it’s so not that. It’s about Lucy and Desi and their relationship and their marriage. It’s very deep, actually.”
Nicole Kidman will star in the film alongside Javier Bardem, who will play Desi. J.K. Simmons, Nina Arianda, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, and Jake Lacy are also in the film.
