Happy Days was a huge part of Henry Winkler’s life. It helped him grow as an actor. At the same time, it made him a star. It has been over three decades since the iconic show ended. However, people around the world still remember Winkler as his leather jacket-clad character.

There is a good reason for this, though. The Fonz is too cool to forget. It wasn’t just his immaculate hair and leather jacket, though. It was the way he talked. At the same time, it was the way he dealt with just about any situation that came his way. If The Fonz lost his cool, it was for a good reason. It didn’t happen often.

Yesterday, Henry Winkler shared a clip from a classic Happy Days episode that highlights just how cool The Fonz was under pressure.

In the clip, you can see why Winkler was the coolest part of Happy Days. The Fonz and Richie are being hassled by a couple of local cops. They just don’t like the way Fonzie looks, dresses, or talks. So, they’ve decided to give him a hard time. Fonzie doesn’t get angry or even worried about the harsh interaction. Instead, he stays cool and cracks jokes until the cops decide to go on their way, leaving him with a threat.

The highlight of the Happy Days clip comes only a few seconds in. The officer says that he doesn’t like the way The Fonz dresses. Cool as a cucumber, Fonzie replies, “Just for that, I’m going to date your daughter.” Not only is he cool under pressure, but he also never loses his sense of humor.

The Happy Days Star Has Still Got It

Don’t think that Henry Winkler has lost his iconic level of cool over the years. Just recently he participated in a virtual table read for a classic episode of Happy Days. He hasn’t played The Fonz in decades. However, when it was time to turn it on, he did so flawlessly. It was like he never stepped away from the role.

The former Happy Days star has often said that he and The Fonz are as different as possible. From demeanor to lineage, they are completely different people. However, you couldn’t have one without the other. The Fonz is the character that propelled Winkler to stardom. At the same time, no other actor could have played him as well. In fact, it was Winkler’s insistence on changing the character that made him so popular.
