Watch as Happy Days icon Henry Winkler details the hows and whys of Better Late Than Never‘s ending – alongside a possible return!

Fans of television icon Henry Winkler will know that NBC canceled the show after two short seasons. As part of this 2019 interview with Chicago’s WGN9, however, Winkler reveals he would “love” to bring back Better Late Than Never. In fact, he says “the guys” are all down for a return! This includes, of course, Star Trek legend William Shatner alongside fellow icons Terry Bradshaw and George Foreman.

So what gives? Why cancel such a hysterical mixture of reality, comedy, travel, and cultural icons? While answering fan questions for WGN9, the Happy Days alum explains.

“Fan Chris wants to know: ‘We loved watching Better Late Than Never… Will there be a new season?” WGN9 asks.

“Okay Chris, this is complicated,” Winker replies in typically whimsical fashion. “The network didn’t want to do anymore,” he states plainly of NBC.

“The guys all want to do some more!” Winkler retorts amidst footage from the show. “I am trying to figure out a whole other way to do it,” the Happy Days alum offers. “So the answer is yes and no.”

What a Henry Winkler answer. Is there a possible future for Better Late Than Never on streaming, perhaps?

‘Happy Days’ Alum Henry Winkler Says William Shatner is ‘Adorable’

For a bit of a refresher, NBC’s series synopsis for their unique show reads as follows:

“This hilarious fish-out-of-water comedy/reality show follows cultural icons Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw and George Foreman on their greatest adventure yet. Deciding it’s Better Late Than Never, these four national treasures embark on the journey of a lifetime, traveling across Asia on their own with no schedule and no itinerary. The only “help” will come from Jeff Dye, a young, strong, tech-savvy comedian with an agenda of his own – who isn’t above leading the men off track. Each stop is packed with hilarious cultural experiences, heartwarming spectacles and unexpected twists as our legends take on this unforgettable adventure.”

There’s plenty of further proof as to why a revival needs to happen in the interview above, too. Within, Henry Winkler answers another fan who asks: “Is William Shatner easy to get along with?”

“William Shatner… Is not exactly like walking on glass,” the Happy Days alum snickers. “He’s adorable. An adorable man. He’s 86, sharp as a tack – still rides horses!”

The next question veers a bit off track, but is worth including for us Outsiders, as Henry Winkler is an avid outdoorsman and Outsider himself!

“Being an avid fly fisherman, do you make your own flies?” the next fan question reads.

“Uh… No, I don’t,” Winkler says hesitantly as if he’s been ousted. What a gem. Watch the rest of the interview with the Happy Days icon above – or read along here for more on his hysterical fly fishing antics.
