He belongs in a museum, but just not yet. Harrison Ford will return as the swashbuckling archeologist in Indiana Jones 5 in 2022, it’s being reported.

The 78-year-old will don the hat and whip for a final time in the film series that began in 1981. James Mangold, who helmed Logan and Ford v. Ferrari, will direct.

Producers haven’t released any information on the plot of the film. Though, fans have speculated about it since Lucas Film first discussed a possible fifth installment in the franchise years ago.

Deadline said the movie will begin filming in the spring. Chris Pratt, who had been rumored as a possible replacement for Ford in the franchise, was not mentioned in the release.

Disney announced it had greenlit the movie during Disney Investor Day recently where the company revealed several major upcoming projects. Those include some 10 Marvel TV shows, 10 Star Wars shows, and a number of Pixar film and television programs.

Harrison Ford Remembers Sean Connery

Ford recently paid his respects to Sean Connery after the legendary Bond actor died earlier this year. Connery played Indiana Jones’ father in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

“You don’t know pleasure until someone pays you to take Sean Connery for a ride in the sidecar of a Russian motorcycle bouncing along a bumpy, twisty mountain trail and getting to watch him squirm,” Ford said, referring to a scene in the film. “God, we had fun – if he’s in heaven, I hope they have golf courses. Rest in peace, dear friend.”

Ford said Connery’s iconic performances would live on forever and continue to excite audiences.

“Sir Sean Connery, through his talent and drive, left an indelible mark in cinematic history. His audiences spanned generations, each with favorite roles he played. He will always hold a special place in my heart as Indy’s dad.”
