Starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, “I Love Lucy” remains one of the most popular sitcoms of all time. According to IMDb.com, the show ran from 1951-1957. It won four Emmy Awards. The real-life married couple stars as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. He is a famous musician and she a housewife with a wish to be famous.
In addition to Lucy and Ricky, the show features their neighbors, Fred and Ethel Mertz. They were played by William Frawley and Vivian Vance.
Together, the foursome, especially Lucy and Ethel, get into many humous predicaments. “I Love Lucy” is responsible for some of the funniest moments in television history. Who could forget Lucy trying to sell Vitameatavegamin, Lucy and Ethel in the chocolate factory, or when Lucy hangs out with Superman?
‘I Love Lucy’ Film Announced
Recently, a new film about “I Love Lucy” was announced. Starring Nicole Kidman as Lucille Ball and Javier Bardem as Desi Arnaz, it will be written and directed by Aaron Sorkin.
The project is titled “Being the Ricardos.” The film reportedly takes place over one week in the lives of Ball and Arnaz. The legendary television stars are working on an episode of “I Love Lucy. ” At the same time, they are dealing with a crisis that is threatening their careers and marriage. Serving as two of the executive producers on the film are Ball’s and Arnaz’s children, Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lucie Arnaz.
There has been some controversy over the casting of Kidman and Bardem as the beloved television stars. Some fans believe Debra Messing, who portrayed Lucy on an episode of “Will and Grace,” should play the beloved redhead. Others thought the role of Desi, who was born in Cuba, should have gone to a Cuba-born actor. Bardem was born in Spain.
