How New ‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Feels About a Rematch Against Matt Amodio

by Thad Mitchell

The hit game show “Jeopardy!” has a new champion that is making noise and quickly establishing himself as a force.

Jonathan Fisher, an actor from Coral Gables, Florida, has now won five straight “Jeopardy!” episodes and is heating up. Fisher, if you will recall, began the week by defeating 38 game-winner Matt Amodio on Monday. That was just the beginning for Fisher as he was dominant throughout the week, easily dispatching the competition.

Now, the new “Jeopardy!” champion has a streak of his own that is growing with each passing episode. Fisher is now up to five straight victories and is looking for more when new episodes of “Jeopardy!” return next week.

As a five-game winner, he qualifies for the next edition of the Tournament of Champions. In the upcoming tournament, it is highly likely that he will come face to face with Amodio once again. In a recent interview, Fisher talked about that possibility and more as he looks to make a little history of his own.

Through five games so far, Fisher has already cleared $117,700 — a very impressive total. He’s still a ways off from catching Amodio, who won more than $1.5 million during his streak.

“I wouldn’t think of it as trying to beat him (Amodio) again,” he says. “It was so cool just to play with him the first time. So, getting to do that again would be really, really cool. And to meet him again at his own level and get to be there with him would be great.”

High praise there from Fisher, who will likely get his wish to meet Amodio on the “Jeopardy!” battlefield. Fans will have to wait a little while before getting to see this highly anticipated matchup. The next tournament will likely take place next year.

‘Jeopardy!’ Salutes Its Newest Champion, Jonathan Fisher

When it comes to the world of game shows, there are few things more captivating than a “Jeopardy!” player on a roll. The world watched as Matt Amodio rewrote the record books, providing a nice ratings boost for the show. Jonathan Fisher might not be the next Matt Amodio but “Jeopardy!” is thrilled to have another hot streak among their players.

After his latest victory on Friday, Fisher got a shoutout from the “Jeopardy” crew via social media.

“High Five to Jonathan Fisher for winning five games in a row,” the Instagram post reads. “He’s officially headed to the Tournament of Champions!”

The “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions invites back only the most successful of contestants in a heavily competitive matchup. Matt Amodio is expected to return and Jonathan Fisher will be back as well — but first — Fisher has an ongoing winning streak to tend to. He’ll have a fresh set of competitors on a brand new “Jeopardy!” episode on Monday.
