The holidays can be a stressful time. The cooking, the gifting, the traveling. Potentially all three? And that all looks a bit different than it used to. So, living in such strange worldly times, it can be nice to have some shred of normalcy or tradition. As a fan, that means looking forward to holiday episodes with all your favorite characters.

These episodes tug at your heartstrings and exude cozy sweater energy. They’re something to throw on TV year after year. Well, at least the good ones. So, with that being said, what are the chances that season 13 of “NCIS: Los Angeles” will air a Christmas episode this year?

An ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Let Down For Fans This Year

I hate to be the Grinch and the bearer of bad news here, but the answer looks like a “no.” As in no, “NCIS: Los Angeles” will not be hosting a Christmas episode this year. And neither will their counterpart “NCIS: Hawai’i” or their mother show, “NCIS.”

TV Line put any rumors of that to rest.

Now, this decision is dependent on a couple of different things. First and foremost, the writers need to keep the flow of the show. They say if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and that’s what they mean here. Why force an episode if it doesn’t fit naturally?

Secondly, scheduling. What’s the point of trying for a holiday episode if the thing might not even air on TV until after the holiday?

In a world of TV ratings, these are all things for the show to consider. But as long as the show continues to get renewed, we wouldn’t count a holiday episode out in the future.

A List of Alternatives

We could never leave our Outsiders with just coal in their stockings, so I went ahead and compiled a small list of some other Holiday episodes/events for your viewing pleasure. There’s a small synopsis for each. You can thank me later.

-The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade: This one’s simple. It’s a tradition and it’s headlining Carrie Underwood this year. The parade will air on NBC and Telemundo beginning at 9 a.m. on Nov. 25.

-The return of “Home Town Takeover“: Ben and Erin Napier are back and will take a look at the effects of their town-wide makeover across a small Alabama community earlier for an hourlong special.

-Candace Cameron Bure’s “The Christmas Contest“: This rom-com sees two past “Fuller House” members reunite!!

-Henry Winkler in “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year“: This is a pure classic.

-“Chicago Fire“: This is the first-holiday episode from the series in a while. Maybe “NCIS: Los Angeles” will take some notes for next year…
