James Bond Icon Sean Connery’s Death Certificate Released

Sean Connery, the original 007, passed away on October 31. His death certificate has now been released.

The James Bond legend died in his sleep from pneumonia and heart failure, according to his death certificate obtained by TMZ.

The 90-year-old was asleep with his wife Micheline Roquebrune in their home in the Bahamas when he died on Oct. 31 at around 1:30 a.m. There were a few contributing factors, as well. The report says he also had an irregular heart rate, which increases the risk of complications such as stroke and heart failure. His age also played a factor, it said.

His family said he had been ill for a long time before his death.

Wife Promises to Fulfill His Last Request

Roquebrune, 91, told the Scottish Mail on Sunday that she will spread some of Connery’s ashes in his native Scotland, as per his request.

“We are going to bring Sean back to Scotland – that was his final wish,” Roquebrune said. “He wanted his ashes to be scattered in the Bahamas and also in his homeland.”

However, Connery’s family was unsure when they’d be able to do that given the coronavirus restrictions.

“Whenever it is possible and safe to travel again, then it is the family’s intention to return to Scotland with him,” Roquebrune added. “We would like to organize a memorial service for him in Scotland – that is our hope. But we cannot say when this will happen exactly.”

Connery and Roquebrune had been married for 45 years, ET Canada reported.

Sean Connery Pioneered James Bond Franchise

Sean Connery had an illustrious career in film and television before he retired from acting in 2011. He was Indiana Jones’ father. He faced off against the United States as a Russian sub commander in Hunt for Red October. He’s starred in big, fun blockbusters such as The Rock. And he won an Oscar for his work in The Untouchables. But fans will always remember him for defining the debonair spy James Bond on screen.

His seven Bond films are some of the most famous and beloved in the long-running franchise. Those films are Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds are Forever, and Never Say Never Again.

Connery’s charm, charisma, and boyish grin set the standard for all Bonds to come. And he is and forever will be the yardstick they are all measured against.

Daniel Craig, who is about to star in his final Bond film No Time to Die, paid his respects to the Connery on Instagram.

“… He defined an era and a style,” Craig wrote. “The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in mega watts; he helped create the modern blockbuster. He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Wherever he is, I hope there is a golf course.”
