Actor James Brolin sat down for a virtual interview with hosts of The Talk to discuss his upcoming wedding anniversary. Based on what he has to say, it would appear that he and his wife, singer Barbra Streisand, are doing better than ever.
Brolin and Streisand are coming up on their 23rd wedding anniversary. The high-profile couple officially tied the knot back in 1998 at Streisand’s estate in Malibu, California. And although they do not have any kids together, Brolin has three children from previous relationships, while Streisand has a son with her first husband, actor Elliot Gould.
Over the years, the two have certainly not been shy about sharing their love for one another in public. And James Brolin recently talked about just exactly why they work so well together. But because Hollywood marriages rarely seem to stand the test of time, that is the first question he got from The Talk hosts.
“Is it true that early on in your relationship that people told you it would never last?” one of the hosts ask. “Who would dare say something like that?”
“Well, the first one was an ex-wife,” Brolin says right away as the audience laughs. “No, but I heard it over that [Streisand] was a tough one. I like women who say their peace and I’m a calming factor. She gets me up and doing things I wouldn’t normally accomplish. It’s like a perfect situation, the two of us.

James Brolin Discusses How 2020 Led to a Spark in His Marriage
There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic hurt some couples out there. But James Brolin says it had the opposite effect on his marriage.
“We, for a long time, were put out by COVID,” Brolin explains. “And for a lot of people, their marriages haven’t gone well during these 15 months.”
However, he says that isn’t the case for he and Barbra.
“We have literally fallen in love over this period of time,” he said. “Just being stuck together every day and making it work. Neither one of us has ever gone out the door and we are good at talking things out. In 23 years it’s better than ever.”
