Longtime talk-show host, comedian, and television star, Jay Leno will soon be returning to evening television hosting duties.

This time, however, the Tonight Show host will not be returning to the screen as himself. Instead, Leno will be portraying another hosting icon, Ed Sullivan.

Earlier this year, filmmakers announced the filming of this Beatles biopic which highlights the impact Beatles manager, Brian Epstein, has had on the band’s unprecedented fame.

Now, news has recently been announced that Jay Leno will be making an appearance in the upcoming film. And, few can deny that Jay Leno is certainly a good choice to make an appearance as the famous and iconic television personality.

Jay Leno Has Stayed Busy With a Variety of Appearances

The last time Jay Leno appeared on-screen portraying a character other than himself was when he appeared in a guest-starring role as Joe on the Tim Allen series Last Man Standing.

Prior to this appearance, the comedian guest-starred as Don on the Kelsey Grammar Cheers spin-off, Frasier.

The former Tonight Show host has also voiced a variety of animated characters over the years such as Fast Tony on Ice Age 2; Jay Limo (get it?) on Disney’s Cars; and Billy Beagle on The Mickey Mouse Club House.

The upcoming Midas Man biopic is currently in production and stars The Queen’s Gambit player Jacob Fortune-Lloyd as Epstein.

Those who know about the Beatles’ rise to fame know that Ed Sullivan, and The Ed Sullivan Show for that matter, was a big part of the group’s rocket to success.

The Beatles Take America By Storm

The Fab Four appeared on popular television variety show several times over the years. In fact, the Beatles’ February 1964 appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show was one of the groups first in front of American audiences.

The Ed Sullivan Show ruled the Saturday night airwaves from 1948 until 1971. The hit variety show holds the record as the longest-running show of its kind.

The upcoming film also stars Emily Watson, Eddie Marsan, Lukas Gage, Rosie Day, and Bill Milner.

Filming for the upcoming biopic began this fall in Liverpool.

However, filming was halted for some time. This hiatus in filming Midas Man is due to a pre-production halt as the film’s producers searched for a director. This was to replace the film’s original director, Jonas Akerlund.

The filmmakers have now secured longtime director Sara Sugarman to fill the role. Filming for the upcoming movie is set to resume filming early next. This time, Midas Man will be filmed “across the pond” in the US.
