Actor Jean-Claude Van Damme has all of Twitter going wait, what? The action movie legend’s latest tweet has gone viral. Van Damme reveals he has a new love in his life. And he’s ready to make things social media official.
On Twitter, the actor teased the unveil, “Yes, I have a girlfriend! I will post her photo here tomorrow.”
But for those hoping Van Damme has found his next wife, the actor just pulled a fast one. In a follow-up post a day later, Van Damme revealed he was actually referring to a new canine companion.
The actor shared a picture of his adorable new pet, a chihuahua named Lulita. Outsider certainly wishes the pair all the happiness in the world.
Relationship-wise, the actor has been married five times to four different women. He was married to María Rodríguez, Cynthia Derderian, Gladys Portugues (twice) and Darcy LaPier. In 1999, Van Damme remarried Portugues. But the two have reportedly split again recently. The couple shares two children.

All jokes aside, the actor has always had a soft spot for animals. The actor has been known for playing a variety of heroes and villains on the silver screen. He often incorporates martial arts into his characters, with films like “Bloodsport” attesting to his deadly moves. But the actor is also a hero in real life as well.
Over the years, Van Damme has been on a one-man mission to rescue animals. He’s been responsible for getting thousands of stray dogs off the streets and into loving arms. The actor has also donated tens of thousands of dollars of his own money to help support various animal shelters.
More recently, the actor came to the rescue of another chihuahua Raya. The animal faced euthanization because its documents were reportedly fake and it had been smuggled from Bulgaria into Norway. The Bulgaria government refused to take the dog back. But they changed their mind when Van Damme stepped up in the dog’s defense. After shedding a spotlight on the issue, the actor saved the dog’s life.
But Van Damme loves animals in his personal life as well. In 2011, the celebrity was preparing for a kickboxing match. But he lamented that he rather stay home with his dogs instead.
“I heard in some countries they say when you’re a bad person you come back as a dog,” he told Hollywood.com. “Amazing. I want to stay with my dogs. I want to win this fight and then stay with my dogs. I’m so lucky.”
