Legendary actor Jeff Bridges is taking on the news that he’s been diagnosed with lymphoma in a way only he can: by channeling “the Dude.”

The The Big Lebowski and The Giver star took to Twitter Monday evening to make the announcement. But, as mentioned, Bridges did so in a optimistic, straight-forward light.

“As the Dude would say… New sh– has come to light. I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good,” Bridges continued. “I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.”

It’s what you want to hear from the 70-year-old actor. A cancer diagnosis is never easy, and lymphoma is a type that ravages the immune system.

Bridges goes on to add a message of thanks to family, friends and his fans. However, he includes a message encouraging others to go vote. Bridges has been a vocal proponent of voting ahead of this year’s election.

“I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes,” Bridges tweeted. “And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together.”

Jeff Bridges’ Recent Work

After a career resurgence in the early-to-mid 2010s, Bridges is keeping things low-key. He has not been in a film since 2018, contributing to Bad Times at the El Royale and Living in the Future’s Past.

However, Bridges is currently working on a Hulu-based TV show called The Old Man, which was set to come out this year. While it was expected to be released in the fall of 2020, it has not been given a premiere date. This is likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic delaying and disrupting the production of many TV shows and movies.
