‘Jeopardy!’: Aaron Rodgers Reveals How He Hopes to Be ‘Remembered’ as Guest Host

by Clayton Edwards

Green Bay Packers QB and reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers has several achievements under his belt. His record on the field is legendary. Recently, he added Jeopardy! guest host to his long list of accomplishments. For the past two weeks, he has stood behind the iconic quiz show’s lectern. The final episode featuring Rodgers as guest host has come and gone. However, he left his fans and followers with a heartfelt parting message.

Aaron Rodgers will go down in the history books as one of the best to play the game. However, he didn’t let that go to his head while hosting Jeopardy!. In fact, it seems that Rodgers kept the fact that he was standing in the footprints of an icon at the forefront of his mind during his two weeks as host. If there were any doubts about that, he laid them to rest in an Instagram post early this morning.

The post features a photo of Aaron Rodgers during his previous stint on Celebrity Jeopardy! alongside the late great Alex Trebek. The smile on Rodgers’ face speaks volumes. However, it is the caption of the post that really hit home with both his fans and fans of the iconic show alike.

How Aaron Rodgers Wants His Time on Jeopardy! to Be Remembered

Aaron Rodgers looked to the man himself for inspiration while hosting Jeopardy!. In the Instagram post, he shared an excerpt from Alex Trebek’s book The Answer Is… from which he drew inspiration. In the quote, Trebek explains the main function of the show’s host.

“That was my job…You are there to make the contestants relax enough that they can demonstrate their skills,” the excerpt begins. Then it goes on to explain that the contestants are the stars of the show. In fact, Trebek wrote, the contestants are the ones who people are tuning in to see. In his eyes, his job as a host was to play the middle man between the contestants and the audience. Aaron Rodgers took this to heart.

The excerpt ends with “…if you put the focus on the players rather than on yourself, the viewers will look on you as a good guy. If that’s the way I’m remembered, I’m perfectly happy with that.” Obviously, Alex Trebek’s strategy worked. Fans of the show can’t help but remember him as a good man as well as a great host. Aaron Rodgers hopes that he was able to follow that example. “I hope that’s how my two weeks will be remembered,” Rodgers said, closing the post.
