Wayne Brady is fortunate enough to be honored with the nomination for a 2020 Daytime Emmy. He is one of five nominees for the award. Moreover, he sits on a list that includes the late Jeopardy! host and legend, Alex Trebek.

Brady is incredibly excited to be in the group of names headlining the award. He hosts Let’s Make a Deal, which takes place in New York City’s Times Square.

Brady took a moment to share his praise for Alex Trebek. He gave his thoughts on what it is like to be mentioned in the same breath as the late game show host for an award. Brady made a point to sing the late Jeopardy! host’s praises, saying that “it’s an honor” to be with Trebek.

The Let’s Make a Deal host talked about how incredible it is to see Trebek being honored like this. He called the legendary host an incredible person and noted that he was a “consummate professional.” Brady also said to TMZ, “to have him be nominated posthumously; I think it just speaks volumes about his work.”

Brady also said that “people loved Alex. [When] I think [of] someone that leads a game show, and leads a ship, was Alex Trebek.”

Additionally, he said that there would be absolutely no shame in losing the award to Trebek. In fact, he said that it would be an honor.

The three other nominees for the award are notable hosts as well. Steve Harvey was nominated for the 2020 Daytime Emmy for his work on Family Feud. Alfonso Ribeiro was also nominated for his work on Catch 21. And the other person nominated is Pat Sajak as the game show host of Wheel of Fortune.

The legendary Jeopardy! host was nominated seven months after he passed away. Trebek was battling pancreatic cancer since March of 2019, but he continued to host the game show. It was also his 37th season as the host.

Over Trebek’s career, he won six Emmy Awards for his work on the game show. It would certainly be a fitting honor to see him with a seventh Emmy. You can undoubtedly count on Brady being one of the people who cheers the loudest if Trebek wins.

On Instagram recently, Brady posted a heartfelt commendation note about being nominated. He talked about how “grateful and gobsmacked” he is to see his name on the list. Brady said that he thinks his show is the best on TV but noted that he is biased. He also gave his thanks to the team that puts his show together.

Additionally, he is just proud of his team for getting the appreciation for their work.
