by Samantha Whidden

Hit game show Jeopardy! announced on Friday the final donation total after The Today Show’s Savannah Guthrie’s two-week guest-hosting stint came to an end.

According to the Twitter post, a total of $217,985 has been donated to The Bowery Mission after Savannah Guthrie’s two-week run on the show.

As previously reported, The Bowery Mission serves homeless and hungry New Yorkers. The organization provides services that meet the homeless’ needs and transforms their lives from “poverty and hopelessness to hope.” Savannah Guthrie shared last week that the funds would be used to help the homeless in New York City.

Savannah Guthrie Shares Her Experience As ‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Host

Also on Friday, Savannah Guthrie shared with her followers her experience on the set of Jeopardy!

“Thank you Johnny Gilbert. This experience over the past two weeks has been such an honor,” Savannah states. “Having the chance to be here and work with the people who worked alongside Alex for decades, it is so evident how loved he is. How much he is missed. This is a family. And I am so thankful to be here and to share in that legacy for just a moment.”

Fans also shared their love for Savannah Guthrie during her guest host appearance.

“You ere get on it, Savannah. They’ll probably make you an offer for the permanent job, but you’re pretty busy between work & home,” one fan tweeted.

Another adds,“Was such a please watching this each night. And the money raised for the cause as wonderful. Delightful two weeks… you were great!”

Savannah Guthrie previously describes the late Alex Trebek as the “maestro” of the game show.

“I am a huge fan of the show, and I am an even a huger fan of Alex Trebek now that I know how hard it is to host Jeopardy!,” Guthrie says while calling the hosting duties “really fast and very precise.” She then explains, “It’s unlike anything I’ve ever done. It’s fast-paced, and you really, literally, have to be on your game.”

Guthrie also says that hosts have to “nail it” and that’s how she realizes how impressive Trebek truly was. The former host was notably on the show for nearly 40 seasons from its revival in 1984 until his death from cancer in November 2020. Trebek notably fought stage IV pancreatic cancer for more than a year and a half.

Besides Guthrie, Who Else Has Guest Hosted?

Along with Savannah Guthrie, other guest hosts of Jeopardy! include Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings, CNN’s Anderson Cooper, CBS’ Bill Whitaker, 60 minutes correspondent Katie Couric, and Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik.
