Ever since dethroning 38-time winner Matt Amodio, Jeopardy! champion Jonathan Fisher has earned a spot in the next Tournament of Champions. That’s pretty good for the new champ. So, it is possible he could play Amodio once again.
The topic came up on the latest episode of Jeopardy! Mayim Bialik asked Fisher the question during the usual personal question section of the show. Fisher seems eager to play against the man he dethroned just last week.
“I mean it would be amazing, it’s one of the highlights of my life to be here but also to have played against Matt,” Fisher said. “So to get to do it again would just be icing on the cake.”
The Tournament of Champions is always a fun event. With the best of the best Jeopardy! contestants going up against each other. Now that Matt Amodio’s win streak is over, he will have his eyes on other accolades. So, expect to see Amodio make a run at the title during the next TOC. However, he might have to overcome the champion that took him down.
For now, Jonathan Fisher is going to try to build his own legacy. Could it be possible that another long-term champion will run Jeopardy! for a month or more? There is no telling. However, fans are excited to have a new champion, for the most part. He has already passed one milestone, five games won. That earned him entry into the Tournament of Champions.
‘Jeopardy!’ Champion Wins Five Games
Now, Jeopardy! champion Jonathan Fisher has an open road ahead of him. After winning five games, there is nothing guaranteed, but the champ should feel more confident each game. It makes sense that the player to take down Matt Amodio would be so skilled.
By qualifying for the TOC, Fisher is going to get an opportunity to lay at least once more no matter when his streak ends. As October continues, he is going to be tested by a number of other contestants. There is no telling what might happen. It is hard to remember a time when the trivia show was this interesting and competitive. While some don’t like it, long-term champs make for memorable games.
When people think of Jeopardy! they think of Alex Trebek. After that, they likely think of Brad Rutter, Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer, and now Matt Amodio. Fisher might be able to add to that list as well. These champions are well known because they excite the audience or charm them in some way. Fans will have to wait and see how far Fisher can take his knowledge of the arts, film, and other humanities. Perhaps he has a depth of knowledge in a category we don’t know about yet. He is an interesting champion for sure.
