“Jeopardy!” returns tonight, Sept. 13, and the reigning champion Matt Amodio couldn’t be more excited to be back on our television screens.

If his track record is any indication, we’ll be seeing Amodio quite a lot in the coming weeks. He left off last season with an impressive 18-day win streak, amassing more than $574,000 in winnings and earning a spot in the “Jeopardy!” Hall of Fame. Some say he might just be good enough to edge into legendary Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer territory. Those two hold the top spots for consecutive wins and highest winnings.

Amodio took to Twitter to share his excitement, sharing a post tweeted by the official “Jeopardy!” Twitter account. “The worst part of the year, the #Jeopardy break, is officially over!” Amodio wrote.

The video teases both the season premiere tonight and Amodio’s potential future success on the show. “I think I know this game inside and out,” he says during one clip. “It’s a great feeling, but I’m never comfortable.”

The text that runs along with the video confirms why that is. “He’s on top of his game, but the only game that matters is the next one.”

Amodio’s said as much before. One of his main “Jeopardy!” strategies is to never let himself get too big of a head about the most recent win. Instead, he focuses all his energy on the next match and the one after that.

Several fans shared their excitement about the game show, and Amodio, on Twitter. Many are happy to cheer the returning champ on, especially with how incredible his record proves so far. But other fans noticed an important, and noteworthy, tidbit from the new promo.

“Obviously they’re not promoting it, but Mike Richards’ voice can clearly be heard at the 11-second mark. He will indeed be hosting this week. Talk about an awkward situation…” commented Ben Schneider on Twitter.

‘Jeopardy!’ Looks Ahead to Newest Season Amid Host Controversey

It’s true, you can clearly hear former host and executive producer Mike Richards talking with Matt Amodio. We know he hosted the first five matches of the season, so this whole week, we’ll also be seeing him on our screens.

Richards stepped down from the host and EP roles after some of his recent controversial comments came to light. Sony Pictures Television continues to hunt for a new permanent host, though several guest hosts will fill in in the meantime.

But for this week, it’s all Richards. One “Jeopardy!” fan proposed a strategy for those tuning into the popular game show.

“Most important news of the day. (Also: We’re all just going to ignore Mike Richards, right?)” wrote Lindsay Deutsch.

Catch the new season on ABC tonight, at 8/7 CT!
